I’ll continue listing them as アルルカン… however, based on the state of their music currently, it may be more convenient than anything to have separation from their old discography to now lol! Shoulda done this 2-3 years ago.
Is there kanji for them ? I only know the katakana
I think it’s the only one
this reminds me of those old myspace days when everyone would use microsoft characters to spell their names to make it edgier lol
I thought bands were supposed to change their names away from the goofy multi-script names. Trailblazers.
This is purely speculation but the name change does distance them from search engines populating articles about their scandal earlier this year. Not to mention if they were to change just to ‘Arlequin’ it wouldn’t be as search friendly overseas unless you use ‘Arlequin band’. I agree the change is bizarre (most people will just need to copy/paste the new name when they’re trying to use it) but from a branding perspective, there seem to be some benefits.
more than like Dir en Grey changed their name to Διρ i Grå
better than アヘン顔 lol
They are not as good as before now and it’s sad to see their name changed to something hardly written
I would think Japanese would continue to look them up with the kana.
I can’t speak enough Japanese to figure out what the difference is, or why someone would “correct” it
アへ顔 (ahegao) is basically that weird face girls pull in hentai when they go all cross eyed with their tongues out and that and have actually seen “content creators” recreating this and it actually just looks really, really stupid. アホ is an Osakan dialectual word which means something to the effect of “idiot” so アホ顔 (ahogao) is basically translating to “stupid/idiotic face” i also believe (correct me if im wrong anyone) the “ahe” is ahegao basically is like an onomatopoeia for panting so the original word would mean like “panting face”.
Idk where to put this so I’ll put it here.
