キズ (Kizu) new single, "Bee-autiful Days" release

So theyre releasing one new song alongside a live dvd? I really do not understand what this band is trying to achieve with how they market themselves these days. Seems like trying to put out nothing new and charging mental prices for it.

I think Lime watched that one CGPgrey video

Hexagon are best-agon

Can we please talk about the intro? Those 23, 24 seconds??
I was ready for heaviness, i was ready to stank face… then whatever happened at 24 seconds in, happened.

The song itself, is… standard Kizu, i am missing a bit a climax in the song itself.

I wonder mainly, how long can they go on with that kind of marketing, when will their fans finally all get tired of it.

Honestly they have been on a weird melodic vibe since their last maxi single and a bit of the one before it. I think the next single coming up will go back to the fast paced stuff a bit based on the samples we heard.

The riff you mentioned, they can turn that riff into some bad ass breakdown but they wanted to use it in that fashion but after listening to Kizu for a while i did notice their style shifted a bit after the album. Overall I like this style personally but of course it may not be for everyone. This song is a bit similar to the b-sides of リトルガールは病んでいる (Ritoru gaoru wa yandeiru) in my opinion.

Overall, the song itself in my opinion has a lot of emotion and power similar to other Kizu songs which I always find that this band delivers. Something about lime’s voice and the way he sings make it powerful and sometimes catchy. I thought more so the ending they were gonna do a crazy breakdown but it’s still good for what they put out. The “My Bee-autiful days” part is catchy.

Well I already have. Havent bought or bothered listening to anything theyve put out for a while. I imagine im not the only one but guess until people vote by keeping their wallets closed they wont change their methods. Just seems odd for people to be invested in a band that releases like 2 songs and like 20 massively overpriced live dvds a year. Sadly the later dvds also contain mainly songs from later stuff which isnt half as good in my opinion. Man i miss when these guys were putting out pure bangers.

I absolutely like the new song, but finally want more music from them. And of course tastes differ, but to say that their ballads are generic… Their melodies have very high standard, that was forgotten from newest bands in vk at least since 2010.

The intro is so damn good 10/10 then he starts singing…
Everything else is very generic, safe and boring af.

I still don’t understand why this band is “famous”. I really dont.

I actually decided to put this on yesterday and is better than some of their later tracks (from what ive heard) but still not quitr the same as their earlier stuff. I dont get it either, they must have some mad PR backing in order to even maintain their status as releasing like 3 songs a year alongside a couple of live dvds doesnt exactly boast enough creativity to keep a solid momentum flowing. + Had a look on various places for their later releases last night and damn, even for Japanese standards their stuff is overpriced… Like the upcoming single, 3 tracks and a non-optional live sample dvd with 5/6 songs on for near on £30. Western bands put out full albums with bonus dvds all the time for like £15, MAYBE £20 if they are particularly big but for the actual amount of content thats way more worth the cash as youre probably getting a full concert, a documentary or something alongside a full album. Just so done with this shit. Haha.

It’s a fine song, but I’ve already heard Strawberry Blues, they didn’t need to make another one

Then what isn’t generic? They never did something really generic. They popular because of great melodies, lyrics, vocals and absolutely outstanding energy they produce on stage.

Do you really think these songs have something similar?..

I liked some of their early singles and even strawberry blue, but took me some time to notice that they kinda just are regular modern jrock but just a slightly heavier with the usual vk edge seen in any band of the scene nowadays.

don’t really care about kizu enough to elaborate more so Im probably just saying crap and just wanted to slander them for no reason at all.

They’re absolutely different from any other modern band. That’s the reason they are popular.

I think Kizu DOES have something about them that sets them apart from other bands in terms of visuals, music, production quality, vibe, etc., but it’s (1) hard to define WHAT that is or how to accurately describe them, and (2) it’s not a very LARGE difference.

I think this is actually what makes them so successful in Japan. They’re so difficult to clearly pin down and categorize neatly, but they’re so obviously vkei that it just feels even MORE vkei?? somehow?? If you look at them through a less objective, critical lens, they’re mysterious and ambiguous, which is kind of what vkei is all about: the mystique. The details of music and genres and such is secondary to the overall experience they present, which I think we can all agree is relatively good in terms of quality and originality regardless of personal tastes.

I usually think about kizu as Dir En Grey’s natural sucessors, their rightful heirs, there is something there that holds a lot of potential. They have that natural charisma and skills to make it explode, and I belive that’s why so many people are drawn to them, myself included. I want them to do greater things, and that’s why I’m disappointed with yet another whisper-whisper-melodic-chorus-whisper-whispery song

They aren’t bad songs, on the contrary. But I want to see more of that spark of greatness they already showed
