I might misunderstood what he meant with his statement, but if he truly after the disbandent of the group instantly gets back sent to jail. I would just kill myself if I would be in his place.
Seems like he got a stay of sentence (Suspension of Execution of Sentence) and as long as he doesn’t get in trouble he won’t have to go back for anywhere between a year and five years.
“The sentence to be suspended must be less than three years in prison or a fine less than 200,000 yen. At least five years must have passed since the completion or remission of any previous sentence.”
I’m thinking he’s referring to the agency letting him finish out with the band instead of kicking him out entirely.

Another day, another disbandment. New bands not trying to go viral on social media and stuff is a big mistake imo. I see so many new japanese bands and its only kanji everywhere. Haven’t they realized that there is no interest for VK in Japan anymore? The fans who were around for the golden age are just getting older and older, and young girls listen to kpop. Bands that still manage to get around like Matenrou Opera must have worked so unbelievable insanely hard to gain a following, BUT still are still playing at pretty small venues. Ah I shouldnt make this too long. But its really too bad with all the bands breaking up, and super talented bandmen end up working at seven eleven for the rest of their life.

Since the beginning vk bands have been disbanding all the time, it’s nothing new. Also bands have no interest in going viral on social media and appealing to western audience, they are not the target audience.
People supporting small vk bands are the Japanese girls that are coming to lives regularly, buying checkis and 2shots. Western audience don’t that, this is how this scene works.

Its funny that you added “vk bands” to the sentence. Shouldn’t it be universal? And first of all… you don’t think a japanese band would LOVE to go viral on SNS? Or you don’t think SNS is a thing there, lol? They rather play in a different league compared to western people, their sns addiction is demonic. But its good that you pointed out that there is a difference between Japan and the west, because there is.
Arrghh, before I end up writing an essay on this now I can only say that the difference whether a new band takes off or not, in Japan its only based on if the members look good, are sexy and kyawaaii, while in the west you need to have something that stands out with the music or be super talented at playing the instruments, and in that way become a little buzz with time. Ok think about brootal bands to make it easy and we don’t have much time, the US vs Japan - in the US, a brootal band thats popular to the point that they can do lives, or the big ones, its mostly dudes going to shows but many gurls too, while in Japan it is the complete opposite. Take Deviloof as an example, its probably close to a 98% girls or so. Now to the big why? Why? It is only sexual fantasies about these guys who look so hot in the photoshopped pictures, they are that mysterical anime protagonist, and so on. Once it clicks, it clicks. Have you never wondered about the whole thing?
Anyway VK/rock bands that survive past this first phase where they only sell tickets for their looks, and accept to work at seven eleven while building up a discography with actual good music, are the ones that enter the long game - that later men also also pick up on and think “wow there is actually something here”. But way too many loose at the “sexy bandmen” stage. Do you know its even a thing to start a band only to get women on the hook who will give them money? These women are often in their 50s. Think an advanced form of host culture. 日本の闇が深いぜ。

This makes a lot of sense, I often wondered why so many VK bands break up so early, before even releasing one album.
I agree and disagree. And i know this is a bit off topic.
The reason why loud kei exists is because Vkei died in popularity by the very early 2000s. So to keep it alive bands targeted western fans and audience’s by incorporating western like elements which is the whole point of loud kei. This is partly why we have bands vkei bands like Jiluka, deviloof etc… These bands have also toured outside of their own region in the past.
I agree that some vkei bands don’t target western audiences however It really depends on the band.
I do agree that vkei bands do get more support by Japanese fans but that’s mostly because they are able to support them more since they live there and its crazy expensive to travel to japan or buy cds from them.

It does help to appeal to Western audiences, but it’s not always an immediate gratification. It could take several years to bear fruit, so I would always advise a VK band to stick to very low cost or free ways to appeal to the overseas audience. If you want to play overseas, try and put the financial risk on the promoter instead of taking it on yourself.
For most bands, it’s more important to focus on the gya physically in Japan regardless of ethnicity.
