Nice song, reminds me of Jiga
Curious to hear more from them after this first song
Okay good the mastering isnt terrible ![]()
This is a pretty good start I’m interested on more too! ![]()
This band got themselves into some pretty bad controversy lol They used the real pictures of Himeyuri students who died in the massacre, when they became nurses and fought along soldiers in Okinawa against american persecussion ( right ? I didn’t know about it and had to inform myself ), all that to promote… their performance in Okinawa..
Anyway, that’s the worst controversy I saw since MERRY’s " black face " photoshoot :l and it’s even worse because it’s a direct attack to Japanese history, seems like netizens doesn’t joke about it ( obv ), there are hundreds of cited tweets and millions of views ![]()
Cherry on top is the official apology ( which is not really an apology ) post made things even worse lol
People were also commenting that they’ve been using Imperial Japan imagery, and Karasu said something to the affect of “long live the Japanese empire” during one of the lives.
they just paused activities as a result of the backlash; the event was themed around the Himeyuri student tragedy as the band would dress like the victims and was scheduled to be held as a 3 day event starting on 12/10…at Okinawa. People were so fucking pissed that they were covered by the local newspaper and went viral on twitter and yet, the band didn’t apologize right then when they cancelled the tour, which made it even worse. In their latest announcement however, they finally apologized and claimed they educated themselves on Okinawan history and the tragedy itself and meant no harm by the concept of their tour.
holy shit i’ve never seen a band get cancelled so bad, at least it wasn’t by us!!!
gurl DON’T get me started that’s not even remotely close
Damn I was hoping for kanta to be their drummer but then they effed this up.
WHO CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA TO BEGIN WITH AND THEN IT WAS APPROVED?!?!
I don’t care if your a band member or a manager if you ever spoke the words “lets dress up like the victims” FOR ANYTHING I be like “no. I resign right here”
Well that was dumb
I never thought I would say this but “Hey, google first before concept/album/single/look/promption” I thought people had enough brain cells to understand let’s not do vile things
What a nothingburger controversy, some people are really sensitive and look for a reason to get upset
Too bad I liked them… they’re kinda fucked because if you get backlash from the foreign community usually it’s fine but once the Japanese are mad… you’re done
Is it the same kind of reason to be upset as blackface used by some bands? Would it be a sufficient reason to be upset if some day we’ll get a band that decide that cosplay of Auschwitz prisoners will be CoOl and eDgY? After all, playing around with profoundly tragic periods and events in history is genuinely a reason to be upset. It is deeply distressing that grown adults can be so callous toward other people’s pain
I don’t want to start political discussions, but I’ll just say that Japan today is sliding into an atmosphere reminiscent of the Japanese Empire… I’m sorry, I won’t go into details, this is one of the reasons I haven’t been able to leave the house for the past few months. So sad to see some musicians enthusiastically exploiting this theme. Gross and unacceptable.
IF I TALK About the imperial japanese imagery. R-shitei are very lucky ba****ds for using to build their band image around it and not have any problems because of it !!
Well yeah, the video is still on their Twitter and they’re getting roasted because of it ( by the left wing japanese people… I never seen left and right wing JAPANESE PEOPLE ( on top of it ) being this divided on a Visual Kei/subculture post honestly…
I could understand if they used it as a sarcastic way but they just seems to add it for artistic goals as part of the hype and the furitsuke
you think so ? I know there is a gigantic thread about it and we shouldn’t restart the whole thing here but i’m just wondering if you mean it as " MERRY is worse " or " MERRY is chill compared to that " :l
for a japanese band who’s first audience is japanese people I don’t think it’s a nothing burger and that wasn’t very smart of them tbh They literally seppuku-ed themselves
exactly !
Reading some comments on twitter seems people are having this conversation over if Vkei bands cannot talk about war or controversial topics, (there’s one that says the band members are all cowards for suspending activities and not going with the concept until the end, because that is visual kei about) but many people agree that the problem is not the topic, but the execution of the whole thing, that is they took it more for the edgy side instead of a more “educated” (?) approach.
Controversy is a basic item for vk bands, they should have stood their ground and others are right to call them cowards.
Instead they became literally the first vk band to be cancelled (where’s that topic?)
When controversy is used in an educative/denunciatory way in my opnion, it’s great ! But not in a performative, poser, edgy way.
I think they went for the second option tho only choosing this image when they’re going to okinawa, the singer cosplaying a girl student ( which reminds of something and someone else but I’m not gonna talk about it there lol ), and not giving direct apology really didn’t play in their favor. i’d have loved to defend them tho ( specially against the one insulting and being rude to VK and fans in general ) but all their actions from the picture choice to the announcement were clusmy as best, not it and offensive at worst.
They also used the pine decoration emoji in one of the posts for the 1/10 live and well considering how BAD they have been I really would not put it past them to have used the emoji which is quite similar to one of the two statues used in the memorial of the Himeyuri students
People have been pointing it out in there comments which yeah, not for the same live show but still why??? especially right now
