That’s the thing; I have tried getting into them for MANY moons. On paper, it clicks to me. When I try to listen to a lot of their tracks, I get audio fatigue right away. I’m more so asking if theyre different live vs. a studio take. And FUCK, ill take any of your recommendations.
Try this! It’s one of my favorite songs of theirs and this is a live take! Not sure what you mean by audio fatigue but maybe it has something to do with their mastering.
This was one of their cuts from their latest album. Does this fatigue you too?
Let me get back to you in an edit. You’re wonderful.
Mao: Absolutely ripping. It definitely tires my ears though; you’re absolutely right about the mix/master. Loving the dual vocalist set up. Kuroneko is haunting, isn’t she? Kind of reminds me of an enka singer.
Ootakemaru: Are they using old compressors on the guitars?! My ears are so weak! Otherwise, I am enjoying the fuck out of this. Matatabi’s Oni voice gives me chills.
Okay, @zeus they rule. Thank you so much for putting me on to them!
I exist to put people onto this band. Been doing it since 2013 and I’m not stopping anytime soon!
I have to leave a ballad in here at some point because their ballads are excellent. And I am curious to see if it tires your ear more or less. This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone describe their music as that (it’s an effortless listen for me) so I’m interested in understanding more.
It’s probably as i said: they’re probably using vintage compressors in their main rigs, and the mastering for that particular sound was really prevalent in a lot of 80s thrash/heavy metal, and hard rock productions. It’s a huge reason why I like Queensryche/Slayer/X Japan/Luna Sea’s earlier work, but listening to it is difficult because of that!
