B7KLAN J-Rock Fest (Visual Kei festival) in Paris will be held (10 bands, July 11-12)

I’m not even going to pretend I know any of them lol. I have homework to do!

btw are they getting paid or are they just going to be compensated for travel, accomodation and food?

The guitarist was working with Screw’s Byou for FORBIDDEN iirc!

I knew i was from the older generation but damn.
only know Gravity because they pop up on my feed on IG but never listened to them, and Geigotsu because of DIO members ) which i remember i enjoyed.
Alpha 999 got Syu in it too ( he have 2 opportunities to come i guess lol ). Well those are such small bands compared to the others cited previously. At least they got their little opportunity and B7 got an occasion to promote even more the festival.

Anyway, tried giving an listening opportunity to some of these bands and I appreciate Akai Yurei ( nice vocals, fun songs, cool MVs, i really like them ), Orseas ( good instrus and cute vocals ), Liza have very pretty visuals and universe.

I was skeptical at first but I actually love the idea of giving smaller bands opportunities like that, even tho it wasn’t what we had in mind at first.

Torikabuto might have a chance because it contains Kebyo members and Kebyo is super famous among young vkei generation

As to who will win the initial voting round, I think the top row is a guarantee. Possibly Akai Yurei and one other

I knew most of the vk bands here but the non vk bands, I have never heard of. Since it’s a J-Rock Festival it’s fair to let some small Rock bands participate, even if I think they don’t have a chance to win in the first vote but maybe they get some exposure out of it.

Nyx seems to be from Shanghai. I didn’t know I needed chinese vk but I kinda like them.

I think the first row has a good chance of getting to next round.

Seems like some bands weren’t selected

They further clarified that it came down to their use of seig heil furi moves.

Which, yes…I can understand the festival not wanting people to have yet another reason to drag them over the coals.

But isn’t this mainly a non-issue, unless the band members are doing it themselves? The majority of people at this festival won’t know much if any furi anyways.

Did they already said for how many bands you can vote in the first round? Is it only one?

I would prefer to vote for more than one.

We don’t know yet. I also hope we can vote for several, I want Akai Yuurei and that whale bone band™ to advance to the second round.

It would be our chance to litterally discover Geikotsu Seibutsu Gunshuu’s music, with the livestream and all

So today the first 3 bands were highlighted on B7-socials.
I really want to dig into the participating bands to enjoy this contest. Anyone here to help getting started with the bands? Any signature songs? Any random facts to know?

  • トリカブト got my interest because of their visuals.
  • Ninth in Pluto sounds like your typical Loud Kei band.
  • グラビティ is a band totally under my radar but they released so much until yet. :open_mouth:

One thing I’ll say about Gravity (グラビティ) is that they were more of a Kirakira Kei band in 2024 and before, but they’ve tried rebranding into a more “serious/heavier” band, and their domestic fanbase haven’t warmed up to the sound change.

Whether they’d play any of their pre-2025 stuff in Paris, I don’t know.

Here’s two PVs for comparison

Vs their newest PV last week:

I listened to one release by them and was shocked by the amount of kira kira going on haha totally not my vibe.

The picks could have been better tbh but considering the rep this company has I guess it’s fine for what it’s worth. :man_shrugging:

Makes me wonder which bands didn’t make it?

Eh, for an unknown opening act slot, HITT is far from the worst choice you can have. At least he’s got a good sense of humour and he engages with the audience a lot. Lol, I’ve dragged my friends to tons of J-rock shows over the years, and the one that they both remember the most fondly is HITT’s performance from our local convention.

Yeah haha i wasn’t passing judgment on the quality of the music as much as the size of the bands people expected. (That being said, I have no memory at all of his music)

I have to admit that I don’t know any of the nominated bands  I’m trying to get to know them before the livestream. Does Geikotsu Seibutsu Gunshuu not have any MVs or release at all?
