Got tickets to Berlin. I’ll get more eventually if they’re not sold out, but I hope this tour is successful enough to give other bands the same idea if all the dates sell out. When I went through the posts about this event in my country’s weeb facebook group, it’s very apparent that about 80% of the people there were pushing mid-30s, and their willingness to invest into their childhood fad is diminishing by the day.

MUCC should come over and have that tour they cancelled for COVID, and The Gazette is another obvious candidate for a nostalgia tour (but they can probably just tour either way, and it’ll do well.)

it says " join waiting list". i wonder what doeas it mean? maybe they will add more tickets later???

I did the VIP thing once and i wouldnt do it again. While some aspects of it are nice, like the bonus gifts, chance to check out merch early and easily get to the front, I have to agree with the above really it was overall pretty awkward. But that was mainly due to a lot of the other fans losing their minds absolutely, rushing around, screaming and having no control over themselves at all which was just embarrassing and a cringe fest. And yep, you dont exactly get to meet them but you can join in on a Q and A sesh, so if you have any questions youd like to ask them you do have the opportunity to do so. But yeah, never again, cant be dealing with foolish overhyped fans killing the vibe.

It’s disappointing to see them skip Helsinki, but honestly, after the modest turnout last time, I could see the writing on the wall. I feel like Gazette had a maybe two or three times larger crowd for Dogma in 2016 compared to Dir in 2018 and they still didn’t come back for Ninth. I’m sure the lack of suitable venues and difficult logistics matter too, but after that last show I wouldn’t blame them for thinking they’d never come close to filling a room in Finland again.

Personally, I think two days at Tavastia would have been doable and perhaps even a big success because of the nostalgia factor, but yeah
without St. Petersburg and/or Moscow the gamble must have been impossible to justify.

Intresting, so their last gig in Helsinki wasn’t well visited. Are their any particular reasons, you can think of?

Last time in Germany they had the same venue as for the upcoming tour. It’s smaller than what they could sell out in 2005 (capacity 3500 people if I remember correctly). But still 1500 people is not too bad.

The age demographic of the weebs in Finland, and the country in general for that matter, is practically geriatric and there never was a new generation to replace the old one. In Poland we have people in their teens and 20s, excited to go to any and all shows, while in Finland it’s obvious that by now most people are +30 and the interest of attending shows even for nostalgia fading fast. I wasn’t at the last Dir en grey gig in Helsinki so I’m a little surprised to hear that even the one band I expected to remain popular in the country wouldn’t do well.

I think that Gazette show for the Dogma tour was nearly-but-not-quite sold out, but yeah, you could observe the law of diminishing returns when it comes to music that is essentially passé.

At least Berlin and Lonfon or Paris already sold out.

I have coworkers who wanted to go to Berlin but did not get tickets. They are metal fans. So there is not only the weeb fans but also some metal heads who like something a bit diffrent. I wonder if this effect would work for other bands. Diru are relatively well known because they did some big oversea festivals like Rock am Ring.

These places selling as expected isn’t surprising, it’s just that Finland was an anomaly where a population of 5 million was able to consistently host bands and move the same amount of tickets as countries with around 30 to 60 million people. I think those days are behind us, but nonetheless I think the biggest reason for Finland not being the schedule is the fact that Helsinki does not have suitable venues anymore + logistically untenable with no Russian dates

This is me. Im predominantly from an extreme metal background but just like other stuff as well. + Does liking vkei automatically make you a weeb? As personally i find all the weeby stuff pretty cringe so doubting i fall into the same category.

When I took my photo with them some years ago we def had eye contact. Could even hand them our presents and say a few words. But I don’t know how it is organized now. My picture looks terrible, tho. :smiling_face_with_tear: Bad cellphone camera quality back then
well I look terrible. The guys look as good as ever

I don’t think it makes you a weeb at all :joy: I am the weeb-typ tho. But it doesn’t really matter where you come from. We all like the music, right

I didn’t realize they had priority tickets on sale. If anyone wants to sell me one for any of the London dates contact me. :skull:I doubt anyone will sell them but I’m try and ask anyway haha

Awesome news! Too bad a scandinavian country didnt get anything tho.

I did the VIP thing once and never again. The fans were acting so stupid and cringe it ruined the whole experience.
