I think the crazyness can work in some songs and not in others.
The World of Mercy live is great cause the song stop for a few beats so Kyo can do his joker routine then everything is back to normal

Of which? If you want to see Kyo losing his shit during Oboro, here’s a perfect example:
As for the fishhooking, he did it practically every time they performed Kodoku ni Shisu during the Withering to Death era, and it was always after the first chorus. His constantly doing it in the same spot every night just sort of diminished the impact and validity of it, and it led to a lot of debate as to whether or not it was real.
Thinking back on the DVD, it’s not so much that I dislike theatrics. I love the drama, the fire, the blood, etc. in music, but Kyo’s antics are so old, tired, and cringe. I enjoyed his craziness whenever I was a teen/in my early twenties, but nowadays it feels weird watching a 50 yr old dude writhe around while fake crying about his lyrical misery or throwing a temper tantrum because a fan had the audacity to buy a VIP ticket.
Kyo is just a drama queen. Guess that’s just never gonna change no matter how old he is.
They should tour more overseas, just so we can have more stories about kyo’s day being ruined by minor incoveniences
It’s a critical part of understanding the worldview that he brings to life on stage.
This is my favorite DEG story of all time. It’s been years and I still think of “my hamburger!” far too frequently.
Did I miss something?
Edit:
Is this what people are complaining about?
Why? Kyo doesn’t mess up any notes or blow out his voice. He puts on an excellent performance.
DEG (and Kyo in particular) has often tried to change up the songs in a live setting. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. But at least they try. If you go to see this band live, you have to expect this. DEG as a concept has always been about expressing raw emotion. Not sure why anyone would expect anything different.
If people want to listen to a perfect version of the song that sounds exactly like the album, just listen to the album.
It’s hard to mess up notes when you aren’t aiming for any in the first place.
The vocal choices he made here are just way too harsh and out of place, which is another criticism I have of Kyo. Even on studio recordings I feel like he throws harsh vocals in when they don’t fit (this happens several times on Arche).
In this performance of Oboro, I don’t know. Given the lyrics I would expect him to give an emotional performance, but this sounds more like something he would have done for Blossoming Beelzebub. It’s not wrong. It’s not bad. It’s misdirected.
Nah you guys are crazy, I’m most of the way through vol. II now and it’s been excellent across the board.
Complaining about DEG is the national sport of JRO, I was told.
I complain because I like them a lot but they make decisions that make me angry. Kyo is my favorite voice in the scene
Avarage JRO User: “I despise everything this man does, but I also love him deeply”
Yeah i didnt have any massive problems with it either, just a couple of minor gripes but I enjoyed them overall.
No one hates an artist more than their biggest fans, lol.
