Hahaha I still revisit that clip fairly often these days. Classic.
Tangentially related but at least in English media i hear so often people saying “Japanese people don’t understand sarcasm / sarcasm isn’t really a part of Japanese culture so those jokes won’t land” but then bands do funny things like this all the time
someone asked kaoru about it on his fansite at some point, like during when the movie was still being shown in theaters and kaoru answered to it something like “he’ll see what he can do and understands the demand”, but aside from that i don’t think there has been anything on it.
I would expect them either to stream it via Galacaa/Zaico, or make it available on Galacaa for a limited time like how they did with TOUR21 DESPERATE gig & documentary
If that’s footage of the Withering/UROBOROS tour from last year, I’d instantly buy it without hesitation.
Same here!
Well then.
oh my god
7 posts were split to a new topic: DIR EN GREY new live Blu-ray “DIR EN GREY LIVE FILM 残響の血脈” release
weren’t they still so-so about the gauze era in that 20 years of dir en grey documentary?
Admittedly I know very little about this release.
So these are documentaries and not full performances of their shows, correct?
Yeah footage of the shows and the traveling etc
they’re both. i don’t think there’s any songs cut from the performances from what i read from japanese fans who saw them in theaters, at least not a significant amount or anything.
the cheaper pricepoint probably just comes from the fact that they already probably recouped the costs from the actual movie screenings and this is just a bonus on top, mostly for international fans too. there’s not even a DVD it seems, just bluray.
I do wonder if this topic had been raised before, speaking of live performances and that kind of stuff:
Do you all have any favorite Dir en grey live performances that are unique/exclusive to that day/gig and not even close to the original studio version?
I am such a sucker for the previous MASK lives where they started jamming with much longer outro:
The same tereko also holds one of my favorite Dir en grey “rarez” which is the proto-Six Ugly version of Byou Shin (Might as well call it Byou Shin 2001 ver.?). Listen carefully after the MASK jam is over
Then there is the IN SITU version of Byou Shin that they decided not to release as a proper studio remake:
Not a fan of them performing the Six Ugly version again these days.
Die enjoyin the moment
that 2012 live version of Byou Shin will forever be my favorite rendition of it <3
Just a bit of a random question, has any look of Kyo ever scared you? He is as we all know famous for many bizarre and grotesque looks, thats one thing we can’t take from him.
The recent grease-vampire look is the scariest but if you mean actually scared then personally I don’t ever get that feeling since I was a kid.
Can you post a picture of it?
