They already played it on the recent overseas tours, but this is the first time they played it in Japan since 2012.

Damn what a set! Interesting to see new songs popping up in there as well considering nothing has been announced for a new release.

Guitar geeking moment:

Based on the positioning of these songs, do you guys expect both of them to be the same ADADGBE stuff we had in the past, or should we expect them to go back to Uroboros-era drop C# chugs?

Introducing two new songs at the same time is so 2016-2017 of them, to be honest.

DIR EN GREY 7/15 TOUR25 THE MORTAL CHAPTER 0 at KT Zepp Yokohama -「a knot」only- - RED a knot a live report regarding the setlist above. A poorly translated quote wrt. the new songs that were played:

They performed two new songs. ① was a song that was about half heavy and half melodic, with Kaoru and Toshiya joining in on the chorus. At one point, the spotlight was on Shinya, then Die, then Kaoru, and then Toshiya who sang the chorus. ② was a song that felt like a milder, more catchy version of Aka. Personally, I preferred ②, and would like it to be released as a single, but going by their ideas, it looks like ① will be the single.

So we will get a Different Sense pt. 2?

they did the half hard/half melodic trope on most of WTD songs, and different sense was p much machiavellianism pt II with more screaming, bumped up to a single

a single date soon would be nice…

i’m expecting a single and album announcement at the last show of the tour, single releasing somewhere in autumn and the album not having a release date (but most likely end of this year/start of next year)

I’m not sure what else to add? it’s a fairly digestible sentence in the first place isnt it

You’re so sassy.

Unless you’re huffing galaxy gas on the regular, Different Sense and Machiavellism have no similarities outside of being performed by the same people. At that point, I guess Decayed Crow is Garden Pt. II.

Or there’s a secret Deg song called “Machiavellianism”, as you spelt it, and I’m just now hearing about it

It’d make sense if you said there was a link between songs like this:

umbrella > INCREASE BLUE > Machiavellism

… if only because all three tracks contain the lyric “show time”.

… and I suppose they’re all about violence (umbrella: by a woman against children, INCREASE BLUE: violence against a female prostitute, Machiavellism: violence against yourself).

I really wish they’d experiment with lower drop tunings. I’d love Drop G# or Drop F# with Kyo’s voice.

not to make it personal bruh but most of your comment reads a bit too menopausal to engage it further

thanks for pointing out I don’t remember how their b-side from 2004 is spelled! have a nice summer x

I don’t listen to umbrella - I dislike most of 6 ugly aside for like 2 or 3 songs - but they do have a lot in common, like every non-single track out of their 2cool4VK decade

DS to me blends in with their provocative, aggressive sounding swill of that time (an album PV example of that would be grief), with the only exception it got more time in studio as most of their single tracks do.

A half heavy, half melodic song? Very interesting concept; excited to hear what Deg does with it.
