ngl the only diru track i don’t care for is child prey; everything else seems to live between top tier transcendence and “not bad, not bad”
Phalaris is the least i’ve liked any of their works and even in the time since it’s come out i haven’t gotten much more fond of it. But i still put it on! It’s like a diru album for when i have less attention to pay lol
Child Prey is the ONE and only track so far where like if someone put that one on by itself on a road trip i’d think like okay, what are we doing here, what’s that for.
Child Prey is fun when you’re getting rag dolled in the pit. Sustain the untruth has such cool basswork, don’t get the hate.
An actual bad Diru song would be I’ll(gulty pleasure tho) or Grief. My personal track i don’t care for is The Final, it feels boring and bland to me compared to anything on WTD.
Yeah I agree overall Sukekiyo has more psychadelic vibe songs, but they also have so many that could be on DeG albums. And the opposite. And you mentioned his dog band. Yeah what happened to it? Lost the passion after the first few PVs and media attention?
It is by the way pretty shocking that a band with those members can’t even get a million views on youtube. Kodou which is a great song sits at 679k. And I just checked The Devil in me views, 383k… damn Matenro’s latest great single is at 50k…Are we really that few?… Well, I wonder what Kyo is working on now!
Actually, I see Petit Brabancon more as a punching bag for Kyo. He’s letting off some steam. I’m not even sure he takes this band seriously, to be honest.
I can’t speak for everybody, but I imagine that in niche scenes like ours, people are probably more likely to collect media of what they love, and thus less likely to be racking up view counts on YouTube
So Japanese VK twitter went off yesterday about how crazy DIR EN GREY are but no one seems to care because it’s what you’d expect from them, other than sex parties I really don’t know what they’re talking about.
from what i saw it was just people reacting to the gazette situation with how the “craziest” (in looks and music, and weird personalities) vkei band has stayed pretty much drama free since 1999.
