Amazing track and I am so happy that the whole clown thing won’t be his entire gimmick for the group. Using those fetish pup hoods is honestly such an innovative move for this scene.

I absolutely love this clown gimmick lol (and have loved it in all his bands) the pup mask is definitely refreshing to see in the scene too. tbh i love that they display their own individuality here

Pretty stylish and cool MV, first time I " like " a Tzk song since Mejibray. The drum is bothering me a bit. GG Taizo.

Man, I’m digging Yoshiatsu on Drums. Sounds like a real drummer is actually playing drums in a band for the first time in a while; not relying on triggered samples.

Regarding the costumes, Yoshiatsu posted something to his Insta stories.

Apparently someone DM'd a DRUGS member saying "I can't believe you let Yoshiatsu dress up like a dog!" lol But don't worry. Anything I express as part of the band is always done by my own idea and my own choice. I hate being told what to do more than anything in the world, so that kind of situation would never happen. If anything, as written in the credits, I am the producer of DRUGS. In terms of authority, I am at the very top. What I really want you to know is this. With DRUGS, the other members do not know what the others are going to wear until the day of the shoot. We do not have costume meetings. Once the shooting date is decided, everyone independently decides what they want to wear, and on that day, they just show up wearing it. We choose this style on purpose. Because that is what a band is supposed to be. I am honestly tired of Visual Kei outfits where everyone looks the same no matter who wears them. Bands should be more free. Also, just to be clear, I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality, but I am not gay. So if anyone thought that, sorry if I got your hopes up. All you have to do is think, "Maybe this is a bit provocative?" and then stand on stage wearing that. That's all there is to it.

Really fantastic guitar work from taizo! Wish the mix was a bit less drum forward, that snare is distractingly loud. I wanna hear Wataru louder in the mix too!

I also agree that Yoshiatsu’s drumming is pretty groovy for a loud kei band, and thats what makes it sound more real and less like triggered samples. DRUGS are a pleasant surprise so far.

Is this the officially latest fad in the vk scene? To name bands after drugs that is. I remember at least 2 or 3 while the names escapes from me now except lyrica. But bold going for just “Drugs”, that I just now got to know about :sweat_smile:
Since drugs is so sensitive in Japan (for example if a famous celebrity gets caught with say weed it beeps if you are watching tv and they show it on the top as breaking news, same way they show earthquakes and of course other breaking news.
It must feel edgy for the japanese bandmen :roll_eyes:

I also tried out their latest single “Baku” above, and what a boring generic vk song without anything that really stands out or hooks you. It sounds like something that would be on an album by a not so very good band, a filler track.
Is this band really that hype (considering how many discussion pages there are in here)? Am I just getting old or were they tired when they wrote that song? What would you say is their best song that I can check out?

I’m actually surprised at how much I fuck with this. When Mejibray was around and at the peak of their overseas popularity, I was big-time hatin’. :joy: But I actually dig Tzk in this. The guitar work, too.

It’s also funny for me…cuz I’m just of a dabbler when it comes to VK - just dipping my toes in the scene every once and a while - so I can’t quite put my finger on why, but these guys leave me with a really positive impression.

this really isn’t music i enjoy but this faux outrage is still so hilarious to me. next, we’ll see a thinkpiece about how jrockers are smoking too many cigarettes. my god, won’t someone think of the…grown ass men?!
