They played Start and Days. I suppose there will be a recording of the session (since their staff was filming), but if it doesn’t come up in the following weeks, I will upload these two songs myself. After all, I know a few people who would give up their arm to be able to hear these two songs sung by Maru.
I would give an arm and a leg, easily. Jesus fuckin Christ you lived the dream. Can you tell us more about it? any mention of him possibly singing more frequently, or why he decided to do it again after so long? any noteworthy details on the MCs?
I kinda gave up a leg for this because once I learnt that Maru will be on stage, I notified my partner that they will have to live without me for 4 weeks instead of the initially planned 2 weeks of my solo visual kei indulgence. Because I instantly booked earlier dates to Japan. So yeah, I will have to make up for it somehow… ![]()
As for the live report — I don’t have much to say because I don’t speak Japanese, so all of their talk was gibberish to me
As for what I can share:
- It was Holiday Shinjuku, and they were the last ones to perform. Often times, I noticed, with visual kei the last bands are usually not a headliner — I was at some lives where people would leave bit by bit, and at one live there were 18 of us for the 6th band. Well, it wasn’t the case for Maru. He was a headliner and the closer the time was, the more people appear. I would say, there were more than 100 of us.
- The male ratio increased — from 10% to at least 25% visually.
- I am quite sure some bandmen from the old times attended. For example, I believe that the first vocalist of Syndrome was near me as he was with Maru in LeZ
- Kyotaru from Lay About World and Temari from Amber Gris were singing with him a couple of songs.
- Five songs in total. The track list is here — https://x.com/tenya_soliloquy/status/1966123718796775824?s=46&t=L5Sge0HGUTo_SU3Syx4Kzg
- Maru was having a lot of fun for sure

- His vocals didn’t change one bit
- Obviously, the average age of the audience increases a lot as younger fans mostly seemingly left earlier
- It seemed to me that I was the only non-Japanese person in the audience. Which is strange — I see some people at lives from time to time (like 2-3 max per live), and it still surprised me that even the ones that are currently in Japan didn’t come to see such a legend. But then again, he might be a legend for guys from 2005-2010, but not for newer fans — then it’s not surprising.
@chemicalpictures so I guess that’s all I can share on top of my mind ![]()
