I just recently dived back into japanese music, but it seems like Jiluka is one of the most popular newer bands. I also constantly get posts from the band and itā€™s members (especially Sena) on my instagram explore page. I listened to one song of them because I was curious even though the posts are kindaā€¦ off-putting for me :sweat_smile: I am not a fan of the heavy photoshop/filter they are using, it gives me an uncanny valley feeling. The only one who gets a pass for me for this kind of editing is Kaya, just because :smiley:

Anyways, that one song I listened to (unfortunately, I canā€™t remember which one it was) was very Screamo/Metalcore which is not really my thing. But I am just reading again and again how good they are so I am still kind of intrigued and might give them another chance and listen to at least three or more songs :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I tried them out earlier in the autumn because they were coming to my city. Have to say it took a bit of effort and I doubt they will ever be a huge favourite for me but I did find some songs I like a lot. Bala Deda is my favourite atm. The live was a lot of fun too so I will definitely go again if I get the chance.

But at the same time I think a lot of their popularity is due to hype on social media and them quite aggressively touring abroad. Not saying they arenā€™t good enough to have so many fans but there are definitely other factors at play here apart from the music :woman_shrugging:

Iā€™d also add how accessible they are with how much they engage their audience online, Senaā€™s TikTok lives come to mind and apparently Boogie has a Twitch. Sena also has his YT channel, Sena Vision, as well.

Oh, and Senaā€™s usage of Western slang on his selfies certainly helps lol
