Alright so I’ll only be discussing SHADOWZ. I don’t have much attachment to the songs on the other two releases.
The new versions of these tracks sound very crisp. The recordings make me appreciate Reo and Yusuke’s chord work even more than I already did. Also, I love how punchy Akinori’s bass is. I could be wrong, but I also noticed some slight alterations from the OG bassist’s recordings.
I do agree with the complaint about the drums. I think they could’ve been toned down just a tad. The way it cuts through the mix makes it difficult to listen past a certain volume (cough @zeus work your magic again).
Overall, I really appreciate whatever tips they picked up from Ryo. I’m blown away by how beautiful “I don’t know where I am” sounds. I loved how raw and crunchy the OG one was. Reo going acoustic, Yusuke going clean (no pun intended), and Asanao’s simpler drum patterns gave the song a warmer tone.
“Adore” is a song I’ve grown tired of. But the new version fits more in line with modern lynch. And them GANG VOCALS?! Fuck YEAH!
“Ambivalent Ideal” is a song I’ve become more appreciative of as of late. That main riff is FUCKING NASTY and to hear it have more ROAR, especially with how much more Akinori is present in the mix. AND DAWG THAT CHORUS and FINAL CHORUS UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
This track is BALLIN AS FUCK.
I also hate how I love “THE BLASTED BACK BONE”. I skipped past it before but man, just like adore, them GANG VOCALS, and how much more BITE it has…WHEW
Man, I can go on and on. I’m so happy with this release. This shit right here just reignited my creative spark for music again. To see one of my fav albums get this treatment feels like a reward for living this long and being a Lynch fan for this long.
Wait…ONLY downside is “SHADOWS”. The chorus here is a LIL TOO Soft compared to the OG. Other than that, yeah this shit bangs.
Ok I’m done.
