There’s a theme in here somewhere…
I was thinking about making a new thread to post 2022 last.fm charts and whatnot but remembered this one. Gonna revive this thread for last.fm shenanigans greater than weekly in scope.
insert necromantic incantation here… bigidin bigidin ban ban ban
Here’s my 2022. This year I decided to finally brave cali≠gari’s discography and broaden my horizons beyond their hits and it was one of my greatest ideas because they quickly became one of my favorite bands. It was also a good year for rediscovery led by new releases like deadman’s I am here, which kicked off a general Nagoya kei safari for me.
And a looot of Akina Nakamori.
And while we’re at it here’s my December.
Looks pretty chaotic but it’d probably make a sick playlist… there’s some of my favorite vk albums by sukekiyo, DEG, emmurée, some folk by Ichiko Aoba and Eddie Marcon (their 2005 album あおいあしおと is probably one of my favorite japanese folk albums ever), ambient electronic stuff (loved the 2022 Night Lands record, Nils Frahm’s Durton remaster as well as the Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto collaborations), jazz (been delving deeper into the Miles Davis catalogue and enjoyed some contemporary greats like GoGo Penguin & Portico Quartet), game and movie soundtracks (shoutout to the immaculate Deus Ex OST as well as Mark Snow (X Files) and Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks)), the occasional post punk, most notably Кино and so much more…

If you squint you might find the vk
That Bad Omens album still has a death grip on my brain too
Shape Shift With Me rocks, I saw them two or three times around that album release
so so good
saw them when they came to scotland and predictably lost my heart when delicate, petite & other things i’ll never be played
I only started using last fm this year somewhere around summer so it’s not really indicative of the whole year
