Sweet! I hear linux is better for programming and stuff :open_mouth:

Ps : Can you type in with that background? hahaha.

I’d say yes, the Linux environment itself is developer-friendly. But nowadays Windows 10 comes with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) which provides native Linux command-line tools on Windows. So there isn’t much difference between the two for developers anymore. It’s more like a preference.

I wish that keyboard were typeable too. It’d be cool, haha.

Are you in to keebs? Is that your build?

Not really. It’s just a minimal keyboard wallpaper found online.

I changed it to celebrate the kings :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

it depends. ppl tend to have stereotypes about non-windows non-mac OS users. I even use FreeBSD based ones for desktop, it’s okay, why BSDs have to related to servers? I also use illumOS, which is Unix related, just for learning and my future project. if I don’t really play video games, why not? there are also tons of useful softwares, I don’t have to stick to one only.

I don’t like windows anymore. everything is bloated.

good to see an arch guy
but since manjaro and antergos ever gave me trouble while updating the system, I haven’t been an arch guy for years tho… I’d rather use unstable distro now (e.g. Siduction, or simply Debian sid) if I still do distro hop soon. I found sometimes rolling will kill my dependency lol  or I should, just keep not updating and upgrading for a while…
btw, are you using Gnome3? it’s bloated, just like DDE. why not choose KDE Plasma or Cinnamon if you still prefer beauty? I also recommend Ukui, same vibe, their average RAM usage is below 1G comparing with Gnome3 and DDE, much lower.
I’m a minimal guy who prefer something like Xfce and Mate, or even more minimal like using window managers like IceWM, openbox, fluxbox, etc. my initial Crunchbang’s default DE is only openbox back in the day, there was even no panel lol. right click rules all.

Arch Linux and GNOME 40.
I have been using GNOME 40 since it was initially out, and it’s become my most favorite desktop environment.

@araxzijk Arch Linux taught me a lot from the ground up. I started off from Openbox and then switched to using i3wm for many years. It was fun, but I find customizing a desktop environment at the lowest level, such as i3wm, just to have it look different from the standard unnecessarily complicated, and it takes a lot of time and efforts. Sometimes it’s so frustrating to get simple stuff done while everything on GNOME completely works out-of-the-box.

I don’t really use a computer anymore, so I’ll just show my phone background:

I know many ppl prefer debian/ubuntu based distros, but I’m okay with Arch based since I started with Manjaro i3 community edition back in the days. and, until gnome 40, I still don’t like gnome because of heavyweight. heck, I’m even not a fan of KDE before KDE4 tbh. totally gave up gnome when I quitted using Zorin. I’m so minimal that I don’t even bother have to have a panel when I started to use tilingwm lol. it’s okay that EVERYTHING is keyboard driven. (conky is the best.) speaking of this, my fav tilingwms are qtile and herbstluftwm by far. now I’m using ghostbsd and may distro hop again very soon.

I use Wox instead of the Start Menu.

How I typically organize my windows. (I move them using macros with the num pad)

I use Michaelsoft Binbows b/c of rando software like QTranslate, Games, and Adobe stuff. I’ve used Arch for WSL2, but I use Git Bash for everything, so I haven’t really decided on a use-case.

Was Doom Eternal artwork for a very long time. Now it’s Sanaka (and yes I’m gonna keep calling him Sanaka no matter what lol)
I keep forgetting to remove that broken weather widget too.

And my phone is Hakuei currently.

I love how clean and minimal it looks! Very stylish~

Unsurprisingly, mine’s still Hitomi (but I fixed the broken weather widget in rainmeter finally at least!)

When I was still in school I liked the animated series “My Little Pony”. The animated series ended long ago, and the character from there is still on my desktop, for about 5 years. I got so used to this background that I think I’ll hardly ever change it)

I was playing around with new backgrounds and I settled on this metronome one. Making direct eye contact with Kobasha when I boot up my computer makes me happy :relaxed: :point_right: :point_left:
