What I’m about to go over is old news in anime circles. But somehow we’ve made it 271 posts without anyone bringing up this particular instance of plagiarism, and this topic isn’t restricted to just Visual Kei music, so allow me to bring up something I just discovered a few days ago.
The Plagiarism of Kenji Yamamoto
Kenji Yamamoto (山本 健司, Yamamoto Kenji; born July 1, 1958) is a Japanese composer and arranger who has been responsible for producing and composing soundtracks, including opening and ending sequence themes for various anime, tokusatsu and video game projects in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, mostly related to the Dragon Ball franchise. He has worked on soundtracks of various Dragon Ball video games.
This particular instance of plagiarism is attributed to Dragonball Z Kai, but plenty of examples exist throughout his discography. On March 9, 2011, Toei Animation publicly acknowledged that many of Yamamoto’s musical works for the series infringed upon unidentified third-party copyrights. As a result, Toei fired Yamamoto and replaced his compositions with those from the original Dragon Ball Z series written by Shunsuke Kikuchi. Due to the discovery of plagiarism in his compositions by Toei, they were replaced in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD Collection and later copies of Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2.

Give it a few but he steals one of the riffs from Iron Man.
The Bruce Faulconer score definitely bought him a few years because ain’t no way he would have gotten away with some of these.
It even extends back to the SNES era. Yes, that is Eleanor Rigby. Man has some balls on him to copy this blatantly.
He copies from everyone, Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts included.
Despite all the plagiarism, I still find myself preferring the Yamamoto soundtrack for Dragonball Z Kai. Something about using Cell Games music in Saiyan Saga screams peak lazy to me.

The beginning tune is similar. Notice that Kanno used the same climb (1:20 in “Une Heroine” and 1:35 for “Cloud 9”). And both songs have a harmonica solo in the middle. It’s pretty obvious to me that “Cloud 9” is modified from “Une Heroine”.

I just used this track by her in a playlist so it stings. The whole concept of Fish after Ben Del Maestro finishes singing is a straight rendition of Craig Armstrong’s Ruthless Gravity. It’s easy for me to see that it inspired Yoko Kanno’s Fish ~ silent cruise.

Honestly i’m more pissed that she ruined partially the Wolf’s rain experience for me than i feel bad for her. Her ratty stealing ass deserves it and need accountability to her actions !
and yeah I listened to some of the comaprisions and it’s pretty shocking how she didn’t even try to mask the whole thing
