the GazettE new release in 2024

It’s been a while since I was thrilled by a Gazette album, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for this one.
I think I have the hipster disease of “I like their old stuff” a little too much to enjoy the direction of their last two albums, but I’ll always give their new material a shot.

I wish they could come back to a more melodic direction, rather than the basic New Metal with electronics elements they are used to do nowadays.

I feel like their melodic songs don’t have the same impression anymore since Ruki sings in a lower register now, and he just ends up sounding super flat when they go softer and more acoustic

I would love less reliance on electronic samples from gazette, but judging by the teaser they’re doing the same NINTH/MASS sound production again

I like how he sings here : the GazettE -『大日本異端芸者「暴動区 愚鈍の桜」LIVE AT 2017.03.10 国立代々木競技場第一体育館』FULL LIVE HD - YouTube
But I know it’s 6 years ago. His voice changed so much on the last years ?

Smoking and age does that to ya.

Ruki does vape is it not?

I totally prefer his live singing to what they’ve been recording in studio on the recent several albums… moment in particular sounds bordering on comatose tbh

I agree.

I also went to their last live in France for NINTH. I remember in the middle of the set I felt a big disconnect with the band and the crowd. I realized how their new music has no impact on me. Felt the emptiness. Especially with the overuse of basic new metal riffs. Maybe I was too nostalgic, so I decided to give it a try.

Time has passed, they’re not that young anymore and with experience and age comes a change in sound and musical direction, as is only natural.
Most bands aren’t going to sound exactly the same as when they first started out though I personally think that since the GazettE has experimented with a lot of different musical styles throughout the years it makes for an interesting and varied discography. Considering how long they’ve been going for it not strange for people to prefer certain “eras” over others.

By the way, Ruki quit smoking and started working with a vocal coach some years ago so his vocal technique is not the same as before. I went to see them at Budokan last week and he sounded incredible live (no different from the recording.) However I can understand why some people might not like their newer releases as much as they differ quite a bit from their early stuff.

I totally feel you. That’s the reason I stopped attending their album tour lives, so I only go the special events/ anniversary shows, where they mostly play old songs

For me I was only able to get into The Gazette once Ruki started learning to actually sing. Especially when he accepted and matured his lower register and now that’s easily my favorite aspect of his voice. The whiny crying voice was not doing it for me. I can’t stand wakaremichi in studio but in more recent lives I love it.

After what happened I doubt we will ever hear the originally intended release for this year

You know… I thought that seemed like a hyperbolic statement, but I can’t think of a GazettE song I don’t like either.

Same. Im more into their later, heavier style but the indies stuff is pretty fun to listen to as well. Even if slightly corny at times. Haha.
