[Video Editing] Have you ever wanted to blatantly lie to someone?

My best friend is a huge Dir en grey fan. I used to be a huge fan. HUGE.

I have been getting into video editing, as I’ve been storyboarding future live shows, as well as getting into production for other musicians. This is about to be a source of income.

I want to take a Dir en grey concert video of some fashion, and create a gaslight edit around it. What and WHERE would be a smart place to start? What would make YOU laugh at a gaslight edit/YTP-ification of a Dir concert?

Sound off below, gimme some ideas.

I would create a fake live version of that track “Sea of R*tards” that was mistakenly labeled as a Dir en Grey song.

I’m not sure how much Kisaki footage exists in HD or resolutions comparable to Diru live footage - but maybe edit shots of Kisaki into a Diru live?

We need an edit of kyo repeatedly singing “hoh sis” in his dramatic opera voice.
Then you repeat it later in the video again with afterwards kyo growling “Wake up he is doing it all over again”

Come on, you gotta do something like this

Those edits where the music is really quiet, and you can hear sneaker squeaks, grunts, breathing and other realistic sounds could be funny too.

Don’t forget Mosaic Shoujo by Sukekiyo has kyo wearing a bunny suit, feels like prime YTP material.

Edit: have some cats fighting on stage while kyo is screeching/growling/etc. (because that’s what he sounds like sometimes). Edit his weird mewling operatic sounds into some famous pop song or lullaby like twinkle twinkle little star. Toshiya is on screen? Loud fangirl screaming and claps. Die on the screen? crickets. Replace shinya with yoshiki for a special cameo.

Y’all.

I did not expect all of y’all to deliver. As I get ready to start the project this weekend, I’ll reference the ideas here, and whatever anyone throws down below.

I do wanna ask though:

• is there an interest in viewing the “edit” after it’s completion?

• if yes, would y’all like to be surprised by it, or would you guys want to see the play by play?

Keep those ideas rollin’ y’all. Some of these ideas are gold.

Maybe try sneaking in one of the screams that the kid did for that one Utafumi ad. Like, a background scream in the back that just blends in.
