Wish this band was bigger
Kiryu don’t get their flowers enough for their older work. Oirantan shows just how layered and intricate they get with their compositions. My fav part is the bridge before the chorus. The first time (1:45), its a lot of tom work against the thrashy guitar riff. Then the second time around (3:08), its blast beats against the same riff but entirely palm muted (the first time its only partially palm muted). The effect is akin to a spider crawling on skin, thats what that part of the song feels like for me.
The tension is palpable in the song, especially with the key changes and how varied the synths sound, but even then I wasn’t able to predict the blast beats first time i heard it. What a fucking song, no one does it like them nowadays (when they try they tend to fail cough ari).

i thought this was gonna be some dumb shit and it is…and it’s brilliant
Man, SIRUP did a great job. Miyake Ken’s voice isn’t the easiest to work with, but he really pulled it off. It’s a sexy song, but it’s still got a sort of bratty energy to it that really suits him.
