I can never watch his English interviews. It’s cool he’s doing them but man even the thumbnail is a hard watch ![]()
It’s the same exact fluff piece local news stations run whenever Yoshiki completes any of his weird sidequests/has something local to promote (as in this clip) - I’m not really sure what anyone who’s watched any of these would get from it in terms of substance.
I think he obviously comprehends whatever substance exists in this surface-level interaction and articulates his ideas in a clear way.
One problem I see with these interviews, is they always want to present him (or he wants them to present him) as the biggest rockstar…but then, they start explaining everything because they know almost nobody in their audience knows him…make all looks a little weird.
That’s the whole point of these segments, they’re pure promotion. In this one they even talk about how he hasn’t quite broken through in the Western mainstream.
I think the real issue that makes these appearances come off as dumb and redundant is, like…you’re trying to break through in the Western mainstream, and your answer to that is to go on a local news station?? I don’t think the 60 year olds watching are going to care. My guess is that’s just what his connections allow him to do.
someone link him up with IShowSpeed, that’s the real answer
Yeah, it’s empty. Yeah, it’s cringe (even he acknowledges it’s not cool to talk about his father’s suicide at breakfast time, in a rare moment of self-awareness). Now I’m the first person to bash Yoshiki when deserved (that’s most times), however he’s just doing his job here. He has not one but two gigs in L.A., in a big venue. It stands to reason he would go promote himself on local L.A. TV stations. It’s late in the day, but finally he seems to be doing something semi-serious about his “making it in the US” dreams. Very probably his last shot at it.
hMmm…
But the way he behaves, I feel fits better there…with IShowSpeed or any moderm influencer/youtuber/whatever I think he would be complete lost and not knowing how to interact or what to do.
yeah and it would be hilarious
It all depends on what audience he wants to lean on at this stage in his career. If he still wants to appeal to a younger audience there are better avenues, but for all we know he may want to transition more towards a Classical focus - which would call for more of a Morning News audience
To be frank, I find it bold to make such authoritative claims in Yoshiki discourse without first having listened to Virginity.
Suddentlt X-Japan YT channel uploaded some vids after 6 years… wonder if he is preparing some surprise.
And live clips from 1989, of all things…
But…I would not read much into it.
More videos/MV…something must be going on…unless the channel goes dark again for years after this.
So long as we get an official Celebration MV upload out of this blitz, I’m happy.
