in maplestory you used to have to farm these guys for snorkles and air bubbles for a quest-line that eventually led to acquiring a scuba tank, so you didn’t have to consume air bubble drops while underwater. eventually they got rid of the tank, letting players roam around w/o having to worry about air, and bumped their level up from 36 to 78 as leveling and the level-cap changed over the years. in the current state of the game the entire aqua road area is largely skipped over as it doesn’t make sense to farm here anymore. getting to lvl 200 is now early game and 1~100 can be accomplished in a single day on even the non-p2w server. feelsbadman
