2024 really is the year of unnecessary rerecordings, eh? This one may the worst offender so far, because they seem to have made an effort to make the songs sound less electronic, which is what gave them a distinct sound back in the day. I assume this is due to Kayuu leaving the band, but still made it kinda lose its appeal, plus, mitsu’s vocals were better in the original versions. Tracklist also could’ve been better. It’s missing some of their best songs. New versions of LAB and HONEY Bee★, for example, could be interesting Surprisingly, the new version of YES≒NO is better than the original. By far one of their best songs ever. Other than that just stick to the originals. These rerecordings are just bland.
With this thread being pushed up, I finally did listen to the album, too.
They’ve always been a band I just followed because of Mitsu. I liked several of their songs but they aren’t as much my cup of tea as other kinda music is. I accepted Mitsu decided for that road but I always preferred the music he made before more.
That’s what I was coming from when I gave that album some tries.
Maybe that helped, maybe that wasn’t even necessary.
I really like it.
Of course, some of the songs appeal more to me than others just because of they kinda music they are. But Mitsu’s voice is just so damn great. I still think its potential come to life more with some other style of music but still it’s just so great. It was what got me to listen to music with him on vocals when I first heard him so many years ago and I’m glad it’s still there.
New announcement as in…not actually disbanding? Extending the comeback by a little more? One last release? I don’t see the point of a brand new announcement if they’re just going to split again next month, but this is VK after all.
