キズ (kizu) "1st last album" 「極楽より極上の雨」 release

This thread has been an interesting read. My assumption is that the tracklisting will likely change, or expand beyond simply singles — Probably in response to negative feedback about it being a singles-compilation album. I imagine that pressure has got to Lime, and his perfectionism is getting the better of him right now. Nice that the label gave them some leeway and a longer deadline.

I know what it’s like to be under creative pressure when the ideas just aren’t hitting and the deadline is fast approaching.

At least they made up for the postponed album by giving us proper listens of these two singles. I’m fine with the delay just concerned about the band hope they are doing okay

I do feel like to an extent the qualities Lime struggles with are qualities that tend to precicely lead to products that resonate with people, and manage to do something beyond the simpler aspects of entretaining others.

In the first place I feel in the why Kizu seems to resonate to the extent that it does recently is partly due to that. You hear artists say a lot that making art isn’t just about putting your idea out, but sending it across so it resonates with people. It generally explains why when you see products with so much care, the maker tends to struggle to the extent they sometimes do. Life is challenging and it’s a way to understand and think through that. Some people put less effort and make something simpler, but it might end up having less of an effect on someone. Mayhaps that’s why Kizu ends up like it does, and why even even get the debacles with the tracks.

That being said, I do feel like that might part of the relationship that people tend to have media, and why people even get inspired by it. It’s a creative process for a reason, and why it tends to even imply something greater about life as a whole. It implies people being able to rise above challenges and give something to the world, at least for a bit. At least for some products, that is.

Like I said before, they originally talked about the album as if it would have a lot of new songs, so I’ll share some quotes.

— These days, there are quite a few albums that are basically just a collection of previously released singles. And honestly, even if “Kataki” had been called your first album, I don’t think anyone would have complained.

But there’s still this feeling that “that’s not really what an album should be,” right?

Yue: I think that feeling definitely exists. Maybe everyone in the band sees it differently, but for me, when my favorite artist releases an album and it’s mostly older songs, remasters that don’t sound that different, and things I’ve already heard, it’s not that exciting.

An album makes me want to listen when it has a lot of new, unheard songs. So even if we released “Kataki” as an album and people were fine with it, if I were just a listener, I would still think, “I’d rather hear something with new songs.”

For me, an album means something new, something unknown.

——————-

Lime: I’ve always focused on each song one by one. I just can’t switch between things like, “If this doesn’t work, I’ll move on to something else.” My brain is wired to focus completely on the one song in front of me.

That’s how I’ve been working, so I already told the management that making a full album would probably be pretty much impossible.

— I feel like your ideal of what an album should be has only gotten higher. These days, it’s normal to keep releasing new songs digitally and then just put them together as an album once there are enough tracks. So maybe the fact that you didn’t do that is also why the bar feels so high.

Lime: Yeah, I’m definitely making things harder for myself. At first, I didn’t really have expectations for myself. But with each release, people’s expectations kept growing, and even I started expecting more from myself. I think that’s what raised my standards for the album.

That said, I still don’t know how many songs will end up on the album, but I’m going to do my best to include as many as I can.

—————

— At this point, what kind of album do you feel like it’s going to be?

Reiki: I listen to a lot of music in general, but this feels like something I’ve never heard before. It’s like there’s no real reference point. It’s not even close to my own roots, so I’m actually excited about it. I think it might turn out pretty crazy (結構ヤバいことになるんじゃないかな).

— In a world where we’re surrounded by so much information, it’s rare to come across a type of music you’ve never heard before. So does that mean it really feels that new?

Reiki: Yeah, I think it’s just very “Lime-like.” The songs he writes are really unique. When I listen to them, I don’t associate them with any other music or songs. And because of that, it can actually be difficult to work with them.

Wow, you basically said the same thing he said :slightly_smiling_face:

Lime: At Kizu’s concerts, a lot of people end up crying, and that makes me really happy. I don’t think live shows are just about moving your body — they should move your heart. That’s something we’ve always valued as a band.

Of course it’s fun to move your body, but that kind of experience just ends with “that was fun,” and that’s it. But something that moves you emotionally can stay with you for the rest of your life.

So for us, yeah, headbanging is great, but we’ve always tried to focus on moving people emotionally. Even at events where we only have about 30 minutes, we always include a ballad.

Because if every band just ends with “that was fun,” they all start to feel the same, and people just leave saying “that was fun,” and that’s all they take with them.

I don’t want everyone to leave with the same answer — I want them to take something different away from it.

On one hand, I was expecting a 13-track album with 8-9 songs already being released.
On another, if out of those 6 tracks there’ll be even 2 old songs (I expect Houou being a part of it)… well, then I stop taking this band seriously.

People rave about kizu every chance they get but I can’t take them or anyone seriously if they can’t produce an album.

What’s the source of this info ? No track listing have been released. They only known songs that wil be on the album are the re-recording of Jusei, JP:PARASITE and Houhou

No source I was making a joke everyone. I apologise if it sounded like that was insider info I’m just a casual fan of them I do hope they make an acutal full album but I have low hopes.
