Phantom 20 Faces/Kaijin Nijuu Mensou is releasing a 10 song self covers album, but most of the track titles do not look familiar. Is this a case of a band changing the titles slightly, or are there a bunch of new songs on this?
btw - I watched the youtube promo video, and so much of their material sounds the same it’s hard to tell with some of them if I’ve heard them before or not LOL.

why translate their name?
You’re not wrong for not recognizing the titles, because these are actually songs from ドレミ團 (Doremidan), the previous band of Makoto and Ken. By the way, if you’re not familiar with them, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try because their style is pretty much just like Kaijin Nijuu Mensou, only with more memorable melodies (in my opinion). 
OK gotcha. Seems kinda strange though…it’s a release to mark their 10 yr anniversary called 10 for 10, 10 songs 10 years, but they dig back into the doremidan days. But that also explains why some of the images on the cover collage are from that era

We don’t do that here. We prefer the official Japanese names in Kanji for both artists and tracklists. Romaji can be optionally included but we don’t translate Japanese bands’ names. It’s weird and it only makes you look like a level 1 J-rock fan.
Not looking for an argument here, but not seeing your point. There are plenty of artists written about here where they are commonly referred to as their name in English. For example, Asagi. More people refer to him as Asagi than 浅葱. Or bands like Verxina (ヴィルシーナ), Mediena (メディーナ), Varyl (ヴァリル) Merry (メリー) etc etc. just to name a couple examples. When I see posts about bands like these I rarely see the names in Kanji, and if I do it’s secondary to the name in English or Romanized. But anyways, why be so nasty about it? “Level 1 J-Rock fan”…oh brother LOL. I’ve been a Jrock fan since the early 90’s, a Vkei fan since the mid 90’s, and a Vkei indies fan since 1999. No offense, but I’m going to take a guess and specualte you may not have even been born then. Am I right? In other words, I was seeing some of the OG VK bands live before you were born, or were just a little baby lol. Not that being younger than me or having been into Japanese music for less time than I have is a slight or insult in any way, but c’mon. Let’s just enjoy music together and ease up on the unnecessary remarks.
But anyway, I called Kaijin Nijuu Mensou by their translated name in my post because I’ve never seen them mentioned before on this forum, so I wasn’t sure anyone knew who they were. I thought it was more likely to ring a bell with foreign fans/English speakers to write it in English
really bad examples because those names are in romaji, not English.
Also Kaijin Nijuu has been mentioned many times on this forum, you just need to look them up via their romaji or kanji name. Nobody in the history of ever has called any band by their literal English translation - it’s like someone calling My Chemical Romance “Boku no Kagaku Roman” or dumb shit like that. It makes no sense.

Well, I’m not a Japanese speaker (or reader) so naturally I missed any posts about them where the name was written kanji…LOL, the irony! In my defense I was dumbing it down for English only dummies like me. But in my defense, I did romanize it.

There is a difference between translating the meaning of a japanese word and writing a japanese word in latin letters, tho 
See, Asagi ist just his name in latin letters. You would not call him “pale greenish blue” but that’s what you did when using “Phantom 20 Faces”.
Some bands do use a translation of their name interchangable and in that case I think it’s fair but the band should decide what their name is.
Gotcha. I guess my thinking was “Phantom 20 Faces” is a cool name, so it’s gotta be accurate
