The Queen is Back!

Japan’s answer to Kate Bush has just announced some big moves. Her new album 放生会 (Houjouya) has been announced! It is set to release in two days, on May 29th. Here is the album cover:

The album boasts collaborations with renowned female artists such as Utada Hikaru, AI (Ai Carina Uemura, not artificial intelligence), Perfume‘s Nocchi, Momo from Charan-Po-Rantan, Daoko, and the group Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders.

There will be a mix of new tracks and “new testament” versions of previous singles, including 私は猫の目 (Watashi wa Neko no Me), さらば純情 (Saraba Junjō), and いとをかし (Ito wo Kashi). The latest single 人間として (Ningen Toshite) is also featured.

Seven tracks have been made available for streaming ahead of the album’s release.

Additionally, six new music videos directed by Yuichi Kodama will premiere on YouTube starting at midnight on May 28.

Ringo is also returning to the stage with her first arena tour in six years, titled “(Nama) Ringo Haku ’24 – Keiki no Kaifuku.” The tour will begin on October 5 in Aomori and include ten performances across seven venues nationwide, concluding on December 15 in Fukuoka.
