Anisong musician Sayuri passed away on September 20th at the age of 28. She was best known for performing the ending theme songs “Tower of Flower” for Lycoris Recoil, “Heikousen” for Scum’s Wish, “About a Voyage” for My Hero Academia season 4, “Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no Youna” for Erased and many more.

This is sad news. May she rest in peace. Her music will live on.

Just found out about this. So heart breaking I genuinely loved her voice. Her cause of death was apparently functional dysphonia. Which I’m sure is a condition that resonates with many of us on this forum

Very unlikely. That’s not a fatal condition. I saw headlines stating the same but the article itselft then says her husband said she died from a chronical illness and that she mentioned having functional dysphonia. But that’s not the same as saying she died from the dysphonia. She probably died from another chronical condition that was not revealed to the public.

That’s what I was thinking too. José José had a form of dysphonia and he lived for decades with it. A chronic illness is much more likely. I also found it weird they said she died from dysphonia

I think someone read on her Twitter that she had dysphonia, and somewhere that became the cause of her death. Then one report copied another without much journalistic rigor. That spread mostly on the english side, and most of the blogs and sites that reported aren’t very through with their research
