The latest offshoot/incarnation of AUTO-MOD called AUTO-MOD clas-six will release their first mini album titled “New Wave Raids Again 1”. It will first be available to buy at their CD release live at Shibuya LOFT HEAVEN on 2024/09/13, and later in October at regular CD shops (exact date unspecified).
By the way all the songs are originally by AUTO-MOD. I’m curious to see/hear how they’ll reinterpret them (and maybe others in the future)! I guess the two surprisingly old live cuts are due to the fact that both GENET’s bandmates were members of AUTO-MOD in the '80s.
If you can get your hands on the last (self-titled) AUTO-MOD album from last year, I highly recommend it! Even if it’s in a similar concept, i.e. reworking old songs, but they do it in such a brilliant way that makes the well-known tracks so much deeper, darker and dare I say adventurous/slightly proggy (the style reminded me of gibkiy gibkiy gibkiy’s “free-flowing” dark rock with a typically AUTO-MOD decadent playfulness).
In the meantime for those interested, this project has its own X account where if you go back you can find live snippets. Sounds like kinda upbeat electro-based new wave pop, kinda unexpected (at least I didn’t see it coming, haha).
We lived the same metro station few years ago, and once I saw him doing his daily shopping in the nearest market, his cart was full of alcohol and there was a lonely flower bouquet on the top of it🥰 it was CUTE, one of the precious moment I like to think about 笑
