It was a Japanese Mercari seller scalping signed cheki for 8000¥+ each. Oddly enough, every iT cheki that I’ve seen and received has been signed, so it’s not exactly rare.

That’s interesting because I noticed a couple weeks ago that suddenly, like in one day, all dazzlingbad listings on Mercari were gone. And it would be weird if they had suddenly all sold because some of the items had been up awhile. I’d been checking their listings there daily because I’m wanting one of their cheki holders, so I’ve been waiting for one to pop up. But yeah, the sudden disappearance of about a dozen to two dozen or so listings going poof overnight was a headscratcher. But I do remember seeing that listing of the super expensive cheki right before that and thinking what kind of drugs is this person on??

Yeah, it’s because Ayaha went on a crusade trying to track down the reseller and I guess he spooked them.
Which, yeah, it’s a double edged sword because intentional reselling for jacked up prices is just piggybacking off the bands for profit. On the other hand, not reselling anything can cause international fans to miss out if they don’t know anyone locally who could proxy buy for them.

It also makes it look like your band is doing well if all your goods are priced crazy high on the secondary market, so I don’t know how much it should bother them. Unless it’s an organized network of individuals hitting all their shows and cleaning out the merch table immediately before the other people there can buy anything. But that seems far-fetched and I don’t think any of that super high priced stuff on Mercari was selling well anyway

i think there can be a balance in reselling; like it should be venue pricing plus 200¥ waiting/signing fee bc it’s the person actually…picking up and having the cheki signed, like physically waiting there. 8000¥ is too damn much, for that much i’d want to go to the venue myself and get multiples and solo/two shots. or buy a hoodie and multiple cheki for that much.
i’m glad ayaha called out the insane price scalpers though, we really need more bands doing that. its bc of resellers i’m even able to have cheki until i go next year, after getting the okay from my doctor to go off my meds for 3 weeks since they’re banned 
but there should be absolutely no reason for 1 cheki being 8000¥. stop it. get some help.

I guess that depends on who the band is assuming is buying the overpriced cheki. If they assume that the buyers are other Japanese fans who just really liked that particular pose/outfit and were willing to shell out the cash then I could understand the anger. Those fans could very feasibly come to their show and buy 8 cheki for the same price and it would go straight to them.
Out of curiosity, I checked their web store and they only seem to have acrylic keychains for sale at the moment. If they have cheki available for international sale, I don’t know if they’ve stated it anywhere.
I was looking on ebay and saw a USA based person there selling a bunch of autographed dazzlingbad cheki. Pretty reasonably priced, around $20US for a set of two. Not a bad deal for USA/international fans
Yeah, that’s totally understandable. The band has said that selling for original price or just slightly over is okay with them, so proxy buyers shouldn’t feel discouraged.
