Tuned in in the middle of the night, cause I couldn’t sleep.
So far my favourit is Busted piano, but I already liked it since Kagami posted a little accustic teaser for that song. XD
Need to listen to the album awake to get a propper opinion about it.

Typical boring Dexcore. Trademark sound, but literally zero difference from their last album from 5 years ago. Nothing memorable whatsoever to me.

I guess they have a Lynch syndrome.

To explain my thoughts better — both albums feel like they were written exactly at the same time. I see zero progress in songwriting, I see zero growth as a band and composers — it’s all the same. I stand by my opinion from several years ago that they stopped growing creatively (not in popularity) when Naoki left because with him in the band I could feel they were trying things as opposed to now when the only question on Dexcore originality is how many of the same ballads we will hear on a release.

On the other hand, the previous album is more like re-recordings of Naoki songs, so maybe my point is not valid. Yet, I am still bored by the new album

I read your opinion several times. It’s sad that you see it like that, but I’m not able to change anything about it.
My problem is, that I don’t understand your comment on Naoki. He didn’t write even one song for the band as far as I know. His two big impacts on the band were to form the band and to hire Kagami as vocalist and composer, two things that were very much important for the band! On the other hand these decidions lead to the fact, that the music was mainly influenced by Kagami right form the start, being the only composer back than. For me the only other DEXCORE menber having a musically influence on the band is Yumeto. I personally like the balance between them and their songs and I see a progress since their last album within their DEXCORE style. There are always songs I would recommand as better then other ones, that’s okay, not every song can be to your liking. But maybe I’m just thinking to much and you’re a big Naoki fan and I’m just not able to see what you see in him. Everyone has an other point fo view and I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, with this text.

They are barely holding onto the vkei label😭, especially with the new visuals. New album is fun tho and I hope they make it overseas soon, they have the sound for it.

Wrapping up my second listen-through now and will almost definitely just put the album right back on. I really love this, scratches all the right itches for me.

Damn, sounds frickin’ incredible. Heard it and immediately bought a copy on CDJ. Missed my chance to get the LE, but whatever.

I would like to love this album as much as you, but i don’t know. It feels like bunch of B-sides to me. Still, i like it because it’s DEXCORE but it’s missing something in my opinion. I will try this album few more times.

Drop E buh-WEEEEHs.
Kagami serving tasty vocal licks.

Oh yeah, we’re back. I’ll post a larger form review later, but goddamn. I love this.

We’re that far down now? Sheesh DEXCORE might have the lowest tuned guitars in the game right now.

Reading the comments here I’m very glad that my overall music experience is a very simple one. Either something makes my stupid little monkey brain tickle or not :joy:
That said, I like this album! I think Turbulent Heart is my favorite for now but I also really like Abyss, Others and Skindeep. The album versions of previously released songs are also nice, although I need to listen to the old versions again to decide which ones I like more. Booze sounds quite Electric Callboy-ish, I’m sure it’s fun live. Something I won’t get to experience since they don’t seem to leave the country :sob:

I will say, i do enjoy a lot of the things going on musically, but it is EXHAUSTING to listen to for a long period of time. I think i had to give myself a break halfway through when i realized that i was getting loudness fatigue. A big issue with this album as well, is that TOO many songs TOO alike from one another. Another note – the over use of English. Thats the note. Take it how you will.

I agree. After a while I started to listen to it by removing all the previous singles and seems much more gentle.

I dont understand people saying “its more of what theyve done in the past”, what did you expect? A trip hop/bossa nova crossover type release? Bands are usually making the music they enjoy or want to make, a lot of bands discography is very similar in style from start to finish. Of course there are differences per album but probably nothing so drastic youd say its so far removed from previous works.

Lets be fair too, when a band DOES change their style fairly drastically it usually isnt for the better. Haha. Lets not turn this into a Kizu discussion, but how many times have you heard people say they preferred their stuff when they did stick to a similar style rather than being more all over the place??

They want to be an American Metalcore band so bad

Jokes aside, its the same with every other metalcore band, theyre so loud just for the sake of being loud. The songs are fun however and I await their overseas US debut.

DEXCORE may be the spiritual successor to DEATHGAZE, in that everything is loud and aggressive and all their music sounds the same and that’s the point. Despite that, I’ve never been able to get into DEXCORE. They don’t sound visual like their peers do - they sound much more Western, as if they’d slot in between Make Them Suffer and As I Lay Dying on a tour pretty well. Turbulent Heart has a very Architects-esque riff as well.

I think i would like this album more if it were shorter.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate getting a 17 song album. They put a lot of work into this and I like what I’ve managed to get through so far. But goddamn, this album is so loud and fatiguing that I am not ever going to get through this album in one sit. Really could use a well-placed ballad and pop punk track to introduce some variety. Busted piano and Place where we belong are nice but come way too late.

Having guitars in Drop F/Drop E (not sure which one it is) is one quick way to make sure everything sounds the same, as acoustic beading will lead guitarists to prefer single notes over chords, which lowers the overall complexity of the piece as not many options are available. It’s kinda the same problem I have with Sleep Token - at Drop D1, all their heavy riffs and sections sound the same. DEXCORE can’t escape that problem either. There’s a limit to how low you can go and they’ve found it.

It might sound like I hate this album but I don’t. I hate how inaccessible and overbearing it is. This would have been a perfect candidate to split into two EP’s, as it would have been more digestible. Not an immediate hit for me like lynch. was, but I’ve had 20 years to digest that album, and this could grow on me over time.

Thats exactly how i felt about the last one as well. Its just tiring to get through over an hour of thie stuff in one shot. Usually get around this by listening to albums like this when driving to and from work when youve got an 8 or so hour gap of whack radio music between, then youre itching to get back into it. Haha.

Meanwhile I’ve listened to it from start to finish about 12 times by now  I definitely appreciate the opinions on the album here because I think y’all have a point, but just for me personally I can’t get enough of it. Blast my ear drums babyyyy
