it happens so often with Dezert that I start with excitement because the song sounds promising dirty and heavy but then they make sure to clean it out as much as possible. It feels like this bands constantly going “hey, we know what you want, but fuck you”
the second album cover is so painfully obvious AI.
I mean if it would be like a really indie band who otherwise could only random photoshop jizz all over their square then I forgive, but from such a group they should stick to the real thing
In the beginning it sounds like a mixture of the old dezert and the current one. I would believe it that they put many songs together into one song, but that doesn’t get me.
It’s def a more interesting song since ages. I think I stopped caring about them two or three albums ago.
The begin of the song is okay, but it quickly devolves into uninspired pop rock choruses and rehashed older melodies. Sprinkling the heavy riffs here and there but not delivering on it feels a lot like baiting or teasing their old fans. Well, at least they haven’t forgotten about those, but I still kinda want back the DEZERT that wasn’t too afraid of doing chaotic, abrasive stuff.
Their attempts at going back to a heavier style are appreciated but it’s always a pale imitation of the chaotic energy they had when they were truly like that. I’m sure it’s still achievable with the higher production value but they don’t seem keen on committing to it lol…
I must confess I kinda gave up on this band so I’m not keeping up to date with them at all, but a friend of mine sent me the music video to check out, and… I was pleasantly surprised by the cool heavy grooves in the beginning! Shame they had to ruin the mood with that watered-down anime opening-tier snoozefest of a chorus.
Still, seems like a notch above what I expected (which wasn’t much at all).
