DIR EN GREY announces EUROPE TOUR24 FROM DEPRESSION TO ________ [mode of Withering to death. & UROBOROS]

But then people would complain about the same as they did back when the M&Gs were longer: the band is awkward, nobody says anything, the whole atmosphere is strange.
It all comes down to two aspects: Them not being the type of band to interact like that with their fans, and the language / cultural barrier. You don’t really think that any Western fan would be able to joke around with any Dir en grey member at the bar, drinking some beer and talking about stuff, right?
Besides, even if we entertain that thought, how would it even work? It would never turn into a chill meet and greet with some small talk and a beer in the first place.
Instead, the whole band would be besieged by dozens of infamously rabbid fans, there would be a huge risk of something happening. It’s simply not feasible.
So no matter how many people complain, or say it’s waste of time and money, or wish it would be like other bands’ M&Gs: It will never, ever ever ever be anything more than what it currently is. Simply due to those two aspects.

The guitarist from Creed/Alter Bridge, Mark Tremonti, does guitar lessons before gigs. It’s super reasonably priced, and you’re even allowed to bring your own guitar and hang out with the dude. He charges $225 for that.

Granted, Dir en grey are limited due to the language barrier, but doing something like allowing VIP to attend sound check would go a long way. And they could even charge more money.

I think kyo should be allowed to punch someone. It would make for an greater vip experience, and make it more fun and enjoyable for everyone

It’s probably not their decision, their label/management probably makes it an obligation

That is a problem i did mention in an earlier post, which just brings me back to how fucking weird deg fans are. Cuz I mean what we’re saying here is “they cant do more because their fans cannot be trusted to behave themselves and act appropriately around the band” which is a bit of a sad state of affairs as it is. Like Geist mentioned about the guitar lessons thing and from my own experiences, language barriers aside, these musicians can hang with fans and it’s nothing more than some dudes with similar interests talking about the thing they love and while, granted, you will meet some weird fans, for thr most part they just feel comfortable enough around their fans to be able to hang out and not worry about being mobbed by screaming girls. Again, the point come back to the bottom line of my previous post, its because of the fans the experience may be lacklustre.

So wait… you’re derailing a thread that you shouldn’t be invested in because you didn’t attend a single show by bitching about a band that you don’t care about.

What’s the point? Are you actively trying to start an argument?

Please be careful what you say. This sounds a lot like “woman are the crazy fans and dudes just chill”.
It is more of an age thing. Dir still has a lot of younger fans and teens are just wild. And a lot of thr younger fans are female so it can seem like it’s the “crazy screaming girls”.

That sounds like youre putting words in my mouth. I am not responsible for how other people interpret a message. Sincerely, DirDude.

So, how 'bout that tour? Those of you that went, how do you feel about it after all the chaos has died down?

lol some people only know how to complain. you are boring!
i went to bunch of VIP meets during this tour and i had no problems at all. yes i saw Kyo with that paper bag on his head and i thought it was brilliant and hilarious 10/10 experience. during other VIP events Kyo answered my question and laughed from my friends words. it was adorable. other members would greet us with a smile. you just need to know how to talk to them. don’t expect Disney experience brugh. feels like people forgot what band they go to see. In Japan fans have almost NO MEETINGS like this. it’s so fuckin rare!!! concerts were absolutely crazy. Kyo sounded so good the whole tour! mad respect they still come here!

I went both days in Berlin and it was really great! Withering to Death on Saturday felt so nostalgic as they toured with that album back in 2005/06 in Europe. Band seemed to be in very good mood. Crowd was great and Kyo also seemed to be quite pleased about it.
On Sunday Toshiya did come to the edge of stage less often but it looked like he had much more background singing to do for Uroboros, so he just couldn’t.
A friend that lives close to Oberhausen went to the concert there and joind me for Berlin. According to her Oberhausen crowd was a bit disappointin in comparision.

When I left the club on Saturday my friend waited outside for me and said: “I just saw a girl nearly falling over a living rat.”

Welcome to Berlin I guess :sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

The friend, who was with me asked me, if it feels diffrent nowadays to see them compared to back then and I thought about this quite a while and my conclusion is, it feels the same as ever.

It absolutely was. Oberhausen felt like a warmup, in comparison.

Went to Uroborous in London, best part was Kaoru trying to throw a bottle to the crowd only for it to land 2 feet next to him.

I found Oberhausen to be pretty energetic tbh, but I didn’t go to Berlin, so I have no comparison. Maybe the Oberhausen crowd was a bit tired because a lot of people probably had to work before coming to the show. It was overall a relly great concert for me.

Hahahaha yes! Even he laughed though.

Still dont understand people complaining about the crowd unless they are just going apeshit mental and ruining it for everyone around them. I literally could not care if i was the only person in attendance as long as the band still put on a stellar performance. Youre there to enjoy the band/music not the crowd.

Maybe that’s why in Oberhausen he threw it like he was out to kill somebody - throw was so aggressive

I went to both Berlin shows and the crowd was sooo good
Like no screaming during his ballads but strong (respectful) moshing during the hype parts
Kyo had us do 2 walls of death for day 1 I think he really had fun doing that lol
Some guy kept shushing ppl who tried to scream during the quiet parts it was funny.
Everyone sounds even better live, the final is such a good song and th aka to that concert I now love Oboro
Day 1 seemed to have a different crowd than day 2, second day felt a little more aggressive and ready to mosh but I think that’s mainly bc uroboros is just the harder album. There seemed to be more metalheads than vkei fans idk.
I almost fainted that day too it was incredibly hot and I was all the way in the front where we could barely move. (got water spit on me by Kyo and Toshiya hehe)
The crowd sang happy birthday for Toshiya and I even caught his pick so yeah, best two days of my life!!

Berlin was great. Glad I got to see them play these two albums again and join the 2024 nostalgia train of bands milking their millenial fans!
I feel like more older fans attended those gigs again (who have been fans since like 2004-ish) while the gigs in 2018 and 2020 were more mixed and had a more “diverse”/younger crowd with some older fans mixed in. Also heard that from a lot of friends who have been listening to vk since forever.

However, seems like I caught Kyovid and was basically withering to death myself since Tuesday. Also heard that some friends who attended the gigs had/have the same multidimensional long lasting experience.
