DIR EN GREY announces EUROPE TOUR24 FROM DEPRESSION TO ________ [mode of Withering to death. & UROBOROS]

i wonder why poland first and not last if they’re skipping russian dates (understandably) and for w/e reason they’re skipping scandinavia too - one of like 3 available flights from tokyo to poland actually has helsinki layover bit

it’s so much easier for them to tour south/north america at the moment because of miss putz and her border antics, they really must be not in the mood for long touring right now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if they’re using some kind of analytics to choose the popular albums on the region. Or it’s completely random

Fair, definitely more up north. I’m from the Maryland area though and we used to get huge blizzards here when I was growing up - now, we’re lucky to get a dusting once per winter. And I keep seeing people I know in other parts of the country having less and less snow than there used to be :frowning:

I’m not denying that. Chicago is one of the only places they always hit though, and that lake effect in the Midwest can still be really brutal. My most precarious drive ever was actually just this last March after a concert.

They’ve got my money either way honestly lol, but closing the six hours of travel between myself and there is so much easier in the summer.

Pls I can only dream so much :sob::sob::sob:

cmon London, planning to attend both shows!!!

Oh dude I was in Chicago for a few weeks last December and got out RIGHT before a huge blizzard hit!! Got slammed by a different one eventually in the mountains of WV, but it was a fun trek!

Can’t speak for other Nordic countries but the venue they’ve played in Helsinki the last several shows closed back in 2020. I think there’s only 1 similarly sized venue left and I guess they didn’t feel like playing there. (A lot of bands, big and small, skip Finland these days and it’s more or less a combination of too small profits and logistical nightmares.)

I was expecting them to skip Helsinki for their next tour but to actually see it happening stings a bit :confounded: I’d love to see Withering to Death but I don’t feel like travelling to any of the countries they’re going to… :sob:

I’m already hyped over the two Warsaw gigs. Wonder if there will be an option to buy a single pass for both?
Also… bruh I’d die for Mode of Vulgar! Or Mode of Six Ugly

I’ll definitely set some money aside for 2024 with the expectation that they’ll be coming stateside.

I was thinking this might have something to do with tour insurance, Finland is too close to our little nuclear troublemaker, and no one really knows what might happen by the spring over there. they still could play tavastia after all.

Happy to see some bands are coming back to Europe! If i decide to go, i am not sure which mode i should attend…

I’m sure the current political situation factors in with everything else. Tavastia is significantly smaller than The Circus was, so that brings us back to profits. Kulttuuritalo is the only other similarly sized venue (and based on their website there might’ve been available dates for the latter half of March) but maybe they just wanted to cram this entire tour into a 2 week time span. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Nah, it’s just what Unelma said. I’m sure they are transporting their merch and gear with busses and Finland’s not worth the trouble anymore. The issue with the venues has also become so exaggerated that it’s known in the country that touring artists are skipping it and there’s nothing being done about it. There are no venues even close to the 2000 capacity of Astra and Progresja, and Tavastia is a sub 1000 head venue with probably a higher booking fee than the venues in Paris and London.

They literally made an online form to ask their overseas fans which album is their favorite and where they want Dir en grey to come  I’m guessing this tour is the first result of that poll.

And I guess the only reason for the double concert tactics is to cut costs.

One concert in city A and one concert in B = 2x hall rent, drive, setting up stage/deconstructing it, a day lost for travels etc.
Two concerts in A = 2x hall rent and maybe getting a discount for renting it for two nights

People from Germany will travel to Berlin, people from France/Spain will travel to Paris, people from the UK will go to London. The Nordics might also rather go to the UK. Eastern Europe covered by Poland.
Quite different if you compare it to their schedule from 10 years ago where they’d have a more decentralized concert map with Munich, Vienna, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic,…

I was thinking it’s also more relaxed for the band to stay in one location for two days instead of jumping in the bus immediately and driving off to the next city. This way they can have some off-time to go shopping or sightseeing.

I’m right over the Maryland border in PA and winters have become disappointing in terms of snow the past few years. But you never know when we are going to be slammed.

Still, I’d love to be able to bip back down to Baltimore for Diru concerts in small venues like I used to 10–15 years ago.

The Oberhausen gig is really the odd-one-out. It’s so random lol, why not Cologne 2DAYS?
