Romaji are up on the wiki by the way, if anyone wants to sing along~
Also, interviews:
lol no
Album is out. They are not dropping the Mobs PV (of course special premium short cut version).
It seems that bloodline is Shinya’s song
Yup, I updated the wiki’s member list with the new composers
Still no idea whatever happened to this supposed Toshiya song, but I don’t know the original wording of that anyway
Die mentioned in his interview that they wrote enough songs for a double album while Toshiya said he wrote enough songs for three albums? So, maybe his stuff wasn’t chosen at all.
It’s a shame we didn’t got an extra disc with a couple of bonus new songs a la arche. They wrote a ton for this beast
What are the chances we get an announcement of a follow up EP or something? My impression of the album is that it’s a more fleshed out, and rawer follow up on Phalaris. I can’t see them holding tight to songs of a similar concept to release in another 2-3 years.
I highly doubt that they would just get rid of so many songs not making the cut here. There has to be an immediate album or like @Ro_pls pointed out, an EP next year or something. At least that would make more sense (and perhaps members being happier).
Trying to think of precedents here, and I think the closest we got was the bonus disc of Arche and the single release of The World of Mercy just after TIW
I really want to see what they left at the cutting floor, because they seemed to have struggled to find what fitted the album best in a sea of good material
I for one can’t wait for the companion EP,
the immortal upper
The Youtube Music quality sound 1000 better than Spotify or Apple Music.
Which link on YT ? Why?
I mean next year IS their 30th anniversary, soo…
where are the new MVs i want it so bad, make more MVs for the new songs omg
Just fifteen more seconds bro, I swear bro just give us fifteen more seconds please bro
The latest DEG mention in the news.yahoo.co.jp (cannot access it from here, I am afraid, someone else can give it a shot) points out that (excuse the lousy translation/summary)
“DIR EN GREY album was flooded with negative comments…the band’s management company (Sun-krad) responded: in a certain sense, this is DIR EN GREY showing their true colors / living up to their reputation to the fullest. It’s the kind of unusual evaluation you’d expect from an unusual band”
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/450675d9730681cf1ad9d7762f01b04480bbc77c
I found also this summary of some of the comments (Japanese netizens, apparently)
A lot of fans and listeners immediately went on social media and left very negative comments, such as:
“What the hell is this super-depressing album? It’s the darkest thing they’ve ever done.”
“There are no easy-to-listen melodies or catchy killer tracks at all.”
“It’s just heavy and hopeless all the way to the end. I can’t recommend this to anyone who isn’t already a fan.”
Seems like Jrockone people might have been too generous unlike Dir’s Japanese fans ![]()
Even though I’m not the biggest fan of the album, I don’t agree with it being oppressive, un-catchy, or one note. There’s the same amount of variety, just not as pronounced as in some of their other albums.
Quick correction: The additional, 14th song wasn’t “no end”, but “ISOLATION”.
