holy shit didn’t expect ISOLATION to sound like that
I had no idea Triangle Wizards were so moody
Why do they call it no end when you no end the last track no end last eat the yes hot track
Really really really digging the moody vibes
20 seconds into the second track and this is already the greatest album of all time.
This one is going to take quite a few listens to unpack but so far this might be my favorite release by them post DSS, could just be my mental state talking right now but its hitting atm. I can feel the wizard in the cover staring at me as I listen to it.
the atmosphere is great, but not many catchy moments imo. void and no end might be favorites so far
Hopefully DeG didn’t choose to release their new album on the day the world ends
It’s almost like the band that made Dum Spiro Spero and the band that made Arche made an album together
FASCINATING: Behind the scenes look at Kaoru before writing his iconic riffs.

What is it with overseas audiences always sounding fake in their live recordings?
That intro is getting taken off my phone. anyone else get a headache from the static? Trying 320 with AirPods first then I’ll use some iems for losssless when I get home.
Fitting for the fake “Mode Of” shows they went to see

This is giving me hope ![]()
Actually all of the comments are giving me hope and now im mad I didnt pre-order (but it gives me a reason to wait for the LP…if they release one).
First blush this is one of those ones that I will have to listen to multiple times to really grasp and it will probably grow on me like PHALARIS did.
Gonna give it a few more spins before writing my thoughts, but I don’t click with a diru album so fast since DSS.
It’s definitely a follow up of the concepts and ideas of Phalaris, but the soundscape is so opressive and tight that it feels like a Dum Spiro Spero continuation.
If I’m gonna continue my “[album name] is their [concept] album”: Mortal Downer is their ritual/magic album
Looks like my initial reaction to the samples holds true: Mortal Downer is a softer album overall, focusing on mood over the raw aggression on Phalaris and The Insulated World.
One of my biggest gripes with this band over the years is how Kyo feels the need to be on nearly every second of every song, wailing, yodeling, and doing all sorts of crap. He fills space in the worse ways, and his proclivity for excessive noise has thankfully been tempered here.
Perhaps Sukekiyo and Petit Brabancon have helped chill him out a bit. It’s extremely evident on Kaijin ni Kisu with the extended instrumentals. It’s great.
Also, Kaoru’s love of TOOL comes out here and there on the album, primarily Kaijin ni Kisu and MOBS, but the influence is fleeting. There’s no crazy time signature changes. Just a switch to 3/4 which is fun.
Overall, a great first listen. I will say, Phalaris came to grow on me with time, but Mortal Downer is something I’m digging right from jump. It’s a fantastic album by a fantastic, mature, band.
So many great riffs and grooves on this thing, concerts are going to be crazy.
