Not sure if I mentioned this before, but Sogai will be around 01:35h long.
Alas, this is not for me. I’ll stick to Petit and sukekiyo.
13, Kamuy and Schadenfreude (this one obviously done before several times already, but it kinda gets better over time?) are what I immediately dig; everything else is not bad, but not exactly standing out
kamuy sample is too short though, it might be a cheese fest with those synth arrangements Takumi does both for them and for sukekiyo ever since he changed gear a few years ago.
After hearing the last album (and the following singles) I literally had no expectations or much interest in the band’s recent/future musical output anymore, but these short samples already reignited my hope. So far everything sounds good enough for me, looking forward to the album!
I’ll keep the surprise till the end and not listen to the samples.
What chance Kamuy actually build up the way Vinushka does?? Or will it actually be 9 minutes ballads a la Akuro No Oka
Hopefully it just will be a long ballad, we have enough vinushkas
I have good news for you…
so far tracks 7, 8, 10 and 11 seem most promising to me
Yeah I think I’ll buy this anyway samples aren’t much to go off of and I’d like the remakes and the show should be good. I’m looking forward to see what these figures are of and what they look like lol I know you’re talking about Petit, but don’t tell me I missed sukekiyo news?

I tried not to listen to the teasers, but I couldn’t help myself.
Excited for the music, but the mix is… ok? It doesn’t sound nearly as squished as TIW, but I prefer the heavy rhythm guitar tone on the Ochita single mix vs. what I’m hearing in these snippets. Ochita single had a weird mix overall in my opinion, a lot of elements of the song felt like they were kind of floating in their own space, not glued together as a cohesive thing. While the mix in these snippets overall feels more “together,” so much of the midrange of the guitars is scooped out, making it really brittle sounding to me.
It’s almost like a more scooped version of the MOO tone, but with less movement in the low end because Toshiya seems to have stopped slapping as constantly so it’s more of a consistent low end.
EDIT:
On a second listen of the Kamuy snippet, I can’t help but think “I’m 99% sure I have that kick sample and I’m 95% sure it’s from Steven Slate Drums”
A lot of vibey songs in the latter half. I like it.
Heavy part of Schaudenfreude is pretty nice, but so cookie cutter. Almost sounds like 12012 when they actively tried to emulate 2011-2014 dir’s sound lmao
edit: kamuy sounds nice minus the synths and kick drum, please lay off those corny ass synths dir pls
After going through all samples many times, I’ll probably be waiting for Perfume of Sins, 13 and Eddie.
Perfume of Sins sounds very freaking dark compared to the rest (can imagine it and Utsutsu belonging to DSS.)
13 could work as their usual single, pretty radio-friendly. Moreover, I won’t be surprised if it gets a MV.
And then there’s Eddie. It somehow hits harder than most of the TIW. Shinya doesn’t slack at all. And it also sounds fun. I dunno, maybe I’m a dumb bitch, but this I love this.
And, at least, longbois aren’t similar to each other (but Schadenfreude definitely does Vinushka/Zetsuentai boring hard part stuff).
Perfume of Sins snippet definitely growing on me. I don’t know, it seems a lot of people favour DSS era but I started to lose interest around then. Their sound lost me. VULGAR, to me, was their height but The Insulated World reminded me of why I love them so much. It feels like they’re sprinkling their past moreso into their current work. These days I can appreciate things from every album but VULGAR holds a special place in my heart.
Not gonna comment on the mix just yet because those samples are probably compressed to shit.
I haven’t really processed them yet other than Perfume of Sins sounds like Shinya was personally telling me to shut up and get off his back, lol.
I think the cover art for Vestige of Scratches solidified that.
The Perfume of Sins (Promotion Edit Ver.) is 3:17 long, so one whole minute is missing
Damn
First ten seconds are intro build-up
Next 30 seconds, Kyo repeats the “let life end”(?) from the teaser we got a couple of weeks ago, twice, with all instruments playing and after each of the three words comes a riff (“let” “life” “end” “let” “life” “end” “additional line I can’t make out”)
Then roughly 30 seconds of blast beats (I kinda hear a very faint choir? Or it’s just Kyo dunno), kinda similar to this one, from 0:10 onwards: Motionless In White - Puppets 3 (The Grand Finale) Feat. Dani Filth (Lyric Video) - YouTube - minus the whole banshee wailing of course
First verse comes in at 01:03, slow singing (“aah, hitotsu~”), ends with a repeated guitar riff at 01:24, during which Kyo says something which I think is English? Kinda sounds like “the preys” or something like that lol
01:34 next verse with some scatting/rapping (you know the one), then normal singing, then a little high voice into growls, then back to regular (read: his strained) singing, ends at 02:08
Then same blast beat part again
Then the first verse again (“aah, hitotsu~”) and then it fades out on a slow, breakdown-ish note
It’s unclear to me where the missing minute will come in, maybe at the end
Also, except for the whispered words, the audio from the teaser doesn’t seem to be in the song at all
oh yeah, my verdict:
nice, I like it
but I can see the more audiophile users of this forum not liking it, for reasons I lack the vernacular to explain x)
