Did you already get your copy, Tau?

On their last live release (the Studio Coast one I believe), there was something very off with the audio, almost like the guitars on the first night, first set, were not tuned properly.

Wow, nice! Just how though? As surely they would need an Aknot membership to order? Or did you just set up the account yourself and use the buyee address or something? Interested to know as i would like to get it this way if possible!

No, a friend did :x

i just went directly to the buyee site and put in the request expecting it to be denied but to my surprise it wasn’t. I even messaged them to confirm because of the membership requirement and they confirmed they did bought it. It should arrive today if DHL behaves.

Whaaaaaat?!?! Totally going to give this a go right now. Haha.

it might be my speakers ( its a samsung soundbar) but the guitars overpower everything in this recording

i’ll listen to it again with headphones once i rip it and see if it makes any difference

I’m not too bothered by the sound. It’s more “raw”, it doesn’t have the higher production that wider releases get, but it still sounds very good.

Kyo is off key quite a bit though.

I don’t think it sounds bad but yeah definitely not super polished. I dig it though - without the absurd sample replacement that’s usually done to every shell on Shinya’s kit, this is like the most dynamic and real sounding drums from him I’ve heard in a WHILE

Shinya still needs real drum lessons. He’s so clunky.

Honestly I think he just needs rehearsals, and to give a damn. When he’s in good form, he’s stupidly good. But he clearly doesn’t practice enough

I agree. I feel like between 2011 and now, hes mostly unlearned how to play the skins, largely in part to drum sequencing, and his preference for triggers.

Oh yeah for sure. I still get weirdly upset when I see photos of his kit at live shows and can see trigger modules on all of the shells but the only actual microphones are on the hat, kick, and a pair for overheads

I don’t mind samples. In fact I embrace them - whether we like it or not, they’ve shaped the soundscape of modern music, and even if some people overdo it they CAN be used tastefully and done with care and respect to the dynamics of the performance. But he just went all-in and said “fuck the live shell, just gimme that Superior Drummer sound with the velocity locked at 127 please” and it makes me sad

Help me out here with a sanity check. Are Die and Kaoru in the original tuning for Sangeki no Yoru? I swear the pitches sound the same but I’m also incredulous.

It sounds like standard tuning, yeah. I’d have a better/easier time listening to it, if the band were hitting their mark.

I have a thing for rinky-dink bootlegs so the sound on this is right up my alley. I’ve only played Jealous and Sangeki no yoru so far, and they sound excellent, just like how I’d prefer them to play their old material.

Can confirm, same tuning as the original recording

ETA: Well, at least the original key. I can’t tell what /tuning/ the guitars are in without watching and listening at the same time, but it’s at least being played in the same /key/ as the original, regardless of tuning
