Of course if youre a fan of both bands this is going to be cool but just personally as im not I cant get too much excitement together for this. However, i shall listen to the song recommended above and maybe listen a bit more if i like it. Always nice to try something again sometimes, maybe i just didnt pick the right songs before or whatever…
Private Enemy is a full album, undoubtedly their most dynamic and heavy. By far my favorite album of Pierrot.
Seconding this because it’s a really cool album. Sounds ahead of its time for a visual kei album released in 2000.
That’s for certain. I love early PIERROT the most, but that album aged so well, it’s unreal. Waltz is probably their best track for me
Indeed! Private Enemy hasn’t aged a bit, it’s pretty crazy.
It’s very well written, compositions are solid, there is a concept around the album, sound production is innovative with personnality and the album is coherent but varied at the same time.
I also like the mini ’ Celluloid ’ and the re-recording ’ Dictator Circus ’ is incredible. It’s very rare a band success to redo their own songs and didnt break the magic. (To me Dir en grey and Mucc didnt success this exercise)
Didn’t fans of Diru and Pierrot fighted on a bridge once? I remember reading something about this ages ago, but it’s probably bs
Wait, they arent on spotify???
- As for the fighting on a bridge thing… Remember a Japanese mate of mine who has pretty much been a massive fan of them from the beginning and seen them live a billion times etc… Telling me some pretty wild stories about fans of bands fighting so could be true actually. Haha.
Private Enemy is fantastic
Almost every song on Private Enemy is amazing. I particularly love the First and Last Cries in Hades.
There are copies going dirt cheap on Mercari so tempted to just grab one as not a fan of the Youtube method.
Do it.
It would be a good timing for a Pierrot come back no ?
Takeo is a session drummer doing some small tours with band H.u.G, his schedule is not tight.
Kohta have his small solo career and small tour as a session bassist with NUL., schedule not tight
Jun have his solo career, Im not sure but it seems difficult for him, schedule not tight
Aiji is in LM.C routine, not the success they knew at the begin.
Kirito is back to his solo career, he could make a pause
It’s good to dream I guess
It’s the moment I wish i understood japanese. Anyone can translate interesting parts ?
Damn why do they always let Kyo escape
One general idea I understood (might be wrong) was that they threw a joke or two about covering each other’s songs (fanservice?) though Kirito and Kaoru (?) dispelled the whole idea, making it clear that though there is a certain degree of buddyship between some members, the only prominent thing they have in common is the notion of “warring” fanbases (hence “THE FINAL WAR”, eh).
Also, Pierrot’s managing staff - if you are reading this: please make Pierrot’s whole discog streamable (Spotify, you name it).
That’s far from the only thing, and probably not even the most prominent one.
Toshiya used to be Pierrot’s roadie in 1996, for around half a year. He even lived with the members at one point.
Pierrot and La:Sadie’s did a couple of taiban together, most notably La:Sadie’s very first live. So their relationship is older than DIR EN GREY itself.
Kaoru and Aiji are in a MCM copyband, TTT, made up of musicians born in the year of the tiger.
And Shinya and Kirito appeared in each others YouTube videos already.
I mean, of course not all members are on an equal level of friendship with each other, but I guess that’s a given.
