Toshiya was mentioning some recording sessions in his insta stories.
“Chapter 0” pretty much indicates that it’s not yet a tour for the new album. Sounds more like they will play songs from the new album live on this tour, but it’s Chapter 0 because the album isn’t out yet.
I read it as “THE MORTAL CHAPTER, 0”, buuuut thats me!
THE MORTAL CHAPTERO
What do you all think, will the album title has any connection to the tour name? ![]()
Maybe album after the tour… fall or winter 2025?
What we got after PHALARIS (besides the nostalgia stuff):
New tour: The Mortal (Chapter 0)
Recent tour: Who is this hell for?
Single: The Devil in me
Thematically these fit pretty well.
Don’t they normally have a 6-month notice period between announcing a new album and eventually releasing it? I remember that Phalaris was announced around Jan 2022 and release 6 months later. This could mean that if they were to announce the new album during this tour, we might have to wait until Q1 2026 earliest for it to come out…
Unless they are going down the TIW route and release both the new “album representative”* single AND the new album just before this year ends.
*think of Utafumi and Ningen wo Kaburu for example, the latter being released some months before TIW
The Devil in Me was made apart from the album, almost as an proof of concept. I don’t see it fitting in the same box as Utafumi.
However, I think we will see a new single dropping in the coming months
Maybe yeah… Dir en grey AI album for sure! ![]()
I love being a passive fan now, because let’s be real, there was no other way they were gonna stay on the cutting edge. This is them jumping the shark, and its been a time to watch.
Also: holy hell, they made Shinya watch his fuck up twice.
Where was this during DSS era?!
The tour name is clearly an anagram for the new album’s title, or at least a clue.

Throat Singing. Finally. Gregorian Chants with Shinya Ulrich, Pantene Pro-V, Edward Plectrum Hands, and Japanese Peter Steele.
That gives them, what, 2 months off after the Asia tour? That’s plenty of rest.
This band actually has one of the lightest touring schedules I’ve seen.
I think it’s a hint about how many circles of hell they will send us through
We’re in April now?
And this tour starts in July? No way.
I can see them playing a new song or two at most, with a single or album announcement coming soon after the tour.
A Q1 2026 release seems likely and it keeps us in “we drop albums every 4yrs” frame…sorta.
Dear God I sure hope not.
In the last year or in general? As if the latter you must be mad.
In general. The band only had 2 years where they actually toured a lot: 2007 (121 shows) and 2009 (96 shows). And by “a lot” I mean: a lot for a Japanese band.
Other than those 2 years, they average 40 shows / year which is less than 1/week. That’s not a heavy tour schedule, that’s actually pretty light. They’ve always had a light tour schedule; but that appears to be a quality of Japanese bands in general.
Even a group like Baby Metal, who are vastly more popular than Dir en grey, average 31 shows/year. One OK Rock averages 46, and Crossfaith (who have roughly the same level of popularity as Dir en grey) average 45.
Bands in the West typically have much heavier touring schedules by a rather wide margin.
Feels like its time for a new single about now…?
