Does Toshiya actually play cello? If he does, I wish we’d get some of that on an album. It could be such an interesting texture to add. They already have programmed string sections on certain songs. Imagine how cool it would be to have layers of Toshiya playing cello mixed in with the programmed strings on something like Kamuy. Hell, they had a session cellist and violinist for ‘Oboro.’ If you’ve got a band member who can do that himself, utilize him!!

Not sure how relevant this is to the interests here, but apparently, Ichiko Aoba is a fan of DIR EN GREY - something that I found to be both surprising and cool.
Go to around 33:37 - they listen to “dead tree” and she briefly explains why she likes the song.

That’s interesting. Her stuff randomly came on Spotify one day and do sometimes go back to her music. Wouldn’t have ever guessed there was any Dir inspiration at all. Cool though.

What do you guys think is their plan? Normally they would have released the second single already, maybe we would even be looking forward to the third one now (ok maybe that fast isn’t really realistic maybe) - going towards a new album.
The radio silence feels a bit weird imo, maybe something happened with one of the members?
I mean they just finished their tour and are preparing a new one that is starting in two months, they played two new songs. I would not call that “radio silence”

I do find it interesting how they’re playing new songs before they’ve been released though. Would expect that from smaller bands but not at Dir level.
