DIR EN GREY

I have no idea what it could look like but god I want it :joy::joy::joy: sounds hilarious

Love the trend of Promotional Videos that aren’t used to promote anything

Merch “Members may not be amused about”… Gotta wonder what is trying to be said here. Maybe its just pictures of the members faces photoshopped on to pictures of JOHNNY SINS.

Their teasing of the merch is working: I’m already not amused! :upside_down_face:

Does someone know what is the shortest gap between an song been released and been remade? Also, what is the most recent song that got an remake?

Probably GARDEN or Ash, strictly speaking.
Most recent ones are the debut singles, aside from Cage and Yokan

I hope the whole pv wont just be the band members standing infront of a greenscreen, and its just a complete AI disaster like we saw in the teaser.
There will be alot to make fun of tho…

I’m currently watching a few documentaries and behind-the-scenes stuff, and I noticed… we haven’t gotten something like the GHOUL DVD for a long time, right? Such a two-hour long behemoth with English subtitles…

I have been hoping they do something like this for their more recent overseas endeavours. I saw notices at, at least one London show saying the event was being recorded, but from what i could see that was audio not video. So who knows whats cooking behind the scenes?

Yeah, both Berlin lives were filmed in full. Hopefully something comes of it, the non-album/single releases since those mode of~ tours have been a bit lackluster.

Edit 1: Also, watching this documentary with all the problems… I’m not surprised they don’t return to the US that often.

Edit 2: Copying this from a different thread, holy moly: https://twitter.com/viraltakes/status/1781532978658836728
If this is true, I wouldn’t bet on DEG coming to the US anytime soon.

This is killing all jrockers touring in the us, except maybe yoshiki

Daaaamn! That is mental! Am surprised any bands outside the US play there if thats the case. Makes me wonder how the fests are coping with that…

Yeah i remember that DVD, is probably one of the most memorable ones for me because of all the mad stuff that happens along the way. If i remember correctly thats the one where Kaoru specifically says he doesnt like playing overseas that much because there are always problems. He basically insinuates that the staff in Japan are just more efficient and you can guarantee a smooth show where abroad, anything can happen. Haha.

On a side note, kinda makes me wonder of wr should do a release poll for their dvd/bluray releases too like we did for the albums. That could be interesting.

I posted this image in the single thread as well but it made me think about a topic mommy issues (yet again):

For example you can read the text to the left in the image above…

For how long back can we actually track kyo’s mommy issues? I remember the song Embryo touching the subject of mothers, and its 22 year old. Is this when Kyo started mentioning his mommy issues in his music?

And MOSTLY, what do you guys actually think these mommy issues are about? A returning subject that I have noticed, is the subject of getting born/giving birth. Does he hate his mother for giving birth to him?
If anyone has any info please share, from interviews, other song lyrics etc. Lets see if we can get down to what its exactly all about, or at least get closer.

ash? mazohyst of decadence?.. berry?

songs about existential self/outward loathing and parent’s role in that sort of occupy a lot of their repertoire, but it’s hard to tell whenever it’s his own experience 100 %, an act he puts on that he draws inspiration from, or a way he tries to connect to specific kind of people listening to their music.

I’d take that bet. Dir en grey aren’t super well known, they’re also not a no-name VK band who can only manage 1 bar gig in California. They sell out major cities with practically 0 marketing behind them, and they benefit from strong merch sales because of their rabid fanbase.

I have no doubt a move like this makes touring more difficult; but not impossible.

Same, Ro. I could see them doing more smaller scale shows, not just 3 big locations.
