Most people surely have favorites band. But do you have a band that stands above all others, that you could consider honmei?
Do you have favorite members at all? A honmei member? Favorite members in every band or some bands?
Do you use the concept at all when you think about artists you like?

Diaura is probably my homeiban at this point and Kei from Diaura my honmei LOL but I don’t take the term very seriously
The closest thing I have to a honmeiband aren’t even Japanese. And even then, there are people way more dedicated to them than I am.

Shuuji Ishii from cali gari / XA VAT / goatbed… everything he touches turns to gold his voice recognizeable everywhere his taste is impeccable his fashion so stylish even when it. isn’t. lol
I don’t use the word honmei in my active vocabulary even though he takes a special position. I’m pretty sure getting into goatbed at the impressionable age of 14 aligned my brain waves with his music and now he can do whatever and i would love it. And then there was that time where i got unreasonably worried about him alskdjfh

i like using this term for my relationship with/at ナイトメア’s music -
in truth, i don’t listen to them too often anymore, and haven’t for maybe five years - i’m just too used to their music, i know it all too well lol
but when someone asks my favourite drummer, without thinking, it’s Ruka - and i can pull up ten different tracks to say why.
Fav guitarists, without thinking it’s 咲人 & 柩 - after all, it’s 東京少年, Believe, and 茜 i’ve been using as guitar warmups since 2010.
I don’t have the vocab to say why Ni~ya’s my favourite bassist - something to do with the soft humming ‘leads’ he’ll do in some tracks where the bass rolls up into its high register
and ofc i learned how to sing car kareokeing Yomi’s lines; i think as much as anyone wants to say about skill, the guy can write one hell of a memorable, emotive vocal line that couldn’t have come from any other singer in the scene. Top tier, as far as i’m concerned.
One thing that’s really interesting to me is how most of us vkei fans could probably give a solid answer to this question and an essay defending it - but my non-vkei music friends, i don’t usually get as specific a reference to some band they know that’s had an outstanding effect on their songwriting or life otherwise.
I actually don’t use that term but I guess for the band that’s definitely applicable for Gazette in my case (how surprising xDD).
If it comes to members there’s not one single certain member that’s above others for me. I have that mental list of 12 people by now that really do mean a very very lot to me and quite some more, some of these pretty close to the rest.

Hizumi would be my honmei then since I admire him and his work a lot.
I dont think about this at all. Sounds weeby to me. 
Absolutely solid choice. If I had to name just one favorite band, I’d probably choose them.
