Ok that was a terrible generic boring song. Of course its “broootal” because its the current fad. If this is the best they can come up with as their debute they are doomed :grimacing:

I feel that new japanese bands are worse than ever. Not gonna lie on that one

So brother what is your honest opinion on the song?

Yep, very generic stuff. Their only hope is to get enough mitsu to somehow survive.

I really heard all the MV… Typical intro before the screaming-chaos with elements we already know. A generic heap for the listener to digest slowly or force down their throat. After screaming for almost 5 minutes, there’s an interesting pause and the voice becomes more robust with a certain control and we can hear the vocalist’s voice almost at the end, which is beautiful by the way. And the end is more of the same as the intro

Hasn’t it been the ‘current fad’ since at least 2008?

VK is so creative. /s

Ok. I have felt hyped until i saw that. I was expecting something like Ninth in Pluto, but with better vocals and darker vibe.

Hold up. This actually has some BM influence. They weren’t lying.

Time will tell if I return to this band or not.

yeah, that’s not really that kvlt… early Kuroyume (still is) more Black Metal than most VK bands that claimed to be, including this

not the black metal I wanted, but the black metal I expected  I still enjoyed it tho idc, dunno why people are shitting on it when they also like the same generic core crap that modern vk regurgitates often

The majority does not like generic “broootal” music with no melody or hook.

not what i’ve been seeing, buddy

Any examples? For example Deviloof’s last singles were bashed here.

I quite liked it too. In fact it sounds like classic black metal and so it doesn’t fit to the usual standards of vk. Otherwyse, they do the job, it’s indisputable.

As expected, it’s just a boring barebones deathcore song (feat. some spoken word parts because why not). I couldn’t hear any overt black metal influence, unless we count the length of the song as such. In fact, it’s kinda funny how overly long and repetitive it is.

Well, they’re a young band, there’s always room for improvement I guess (but I won’t be checking out the rest of their catalogue anytime soon).

Remember when Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor and Gorgoroth I guess had a 8 minute deathcore song interspersed with like four breakdowns and squeals. I know they said they’re blackened deathcore, but I think the blackened stands to be omitted.

I mean it’s not that important what they call themselves. Japanese blackened visual deathcore will be a thing of its own if a scene forms around it with a community of bands and consumers, but until then it’s just one band’s gimmick with tacky corpsepaint and sounding like a Lorna Shore on shoestring budget without the cinema and musicianship.

Unlike visual kei, I think metal’s a tough game to be in. You can make a passable visual kei band by picking dozen high schoolers out of a lineup and handing them a KoRn riff and a chorus from Abba –– you can’t make a decent metalcore band like that. The amount of musicianship required to stand out in a crowded genre of technically adept musicians where you can’t rely on easy hooks to carry you is just so much higher.

I hate to be the person going “guys once you’ll hear the bands in the west, your minds will be blown” but this absolutely warrants it. It’s only interesting in the context of visual kei in the sense whether these “new” techniques will be absorbed into the scene at large or if these dudes will turn to more vk over time add a banger chorus there somewhere. Otherwise, I don’t think these dudes have much to offer. This is mid sized city battle of the bands tier deathcore with corpsepaint.

first three minutes are PEAK to me i don’t care what any of y’all say! I’ve never before heard a band say they’re “incorporating black metal” and the first thing they pull in the first song released is minor/diminished arpeggios.

Obvious comparison to ME, who’s also done exactly this, but in the first three minutes, these guys seem to have gone for a sound that’s much more orthodox, with my main point of division between them and my understanding of black metal being the drum mix (why are they so loud, bright, and understandable? Put them back in the cardboard box down the hall, please). In fact, in these first three minutes, i wonder - why call themselves anything other than a modern black metal band with vkei-styled visuals?

Ah, but then the breakdown, and my mind turns off and i wait patiently for it to be over. Sorry but no matter what band does this, it’s yet to appeal to me. I’m not saying they did it poorly, i just think this sound can never find me among its supporters. At least not yet. For me personally, speaking selfishly, i’d be happier if the song simply deleted these parts and was much shorter. To me, they add nothing, and what was there before/after is already very much strong enough to stand on with confidence.

There were even some nice Stockholm sounds in the tremolo picking. Very interesting to see a band call itself black metal and the only tremolo pick section i hear plays a Stockholm melody. I’m not being sarcastic! That’s the kind of fusion and genre-discarding that i could see being the strength of a band bringing these styles into the vkei scene.

But that just brings me to my biggest question. Why do they say they’re vkei???
What’s vkei about this??? Other than i guess the makeup.

Ah well they’re cool, i’ve only heard one song but i’m absolutely gonna keep listening, if they have enough time i think they’ll develop something great.

More or less the same question back in 2010’s when metalcore was brought into the scene. They’ll play with other VK bands in the same vibe of Deviloof and spouse.

Afar from that, this first song ain’t that bad. It has classical BM influence, good extreme vocals, and is kinda well done. A bit generic in its own style, but that’s not something you hear everyday from the vk scene.
