those visual kei Idol groups always try so badly to be basically K-Pop but not completely
the haircut are the prove

VK Idol groups will never catch on with foreign fans, but I could see there being a niche for certain types of domestic fans.

For us, it baffles us because if we wanted Idol stuff, there are dozens of higher-budget alternatives located in both Japan and South Korea to choose from.

I wonder if there’s a slightly greater level of accessibility to the group members in these idol groups than there is in standard Visual Kei (more meet and greets, members encouraged to show more personality on social media, etc)?

At this point, vk idol and male alt-idols are effectively the same. The way many of the rising indie girl groups have found success is the same way that the vk idols have. More individuals are now the face of the band which means more points of SNS interaction. Many composers/bandmen of vk are now composing or doing backing instrumentals for alt-idols, so they must be lucrative.

Anyways, I’ve made too many idol-related posts as of late. This is already the norm now, so expect to see more of them. Funny how years ago we used to throw around the term “host-kei” for certain kirakira groups, and now these groups resemble hosts even more than their traditional band counterparts  .

On the topic of VINANSHI, this is actually my favorite one by them so far.

Basically it’s awful (band?) group whatever is…

It seems like " Lets copy some vk looks and lets make it and try to get attention from vk fans, maybe we can be the new AKB48 poor version"… Just a big mess with everything to get attention or they thought to bring something new “mixing vk aesthetics and jpop, idol stuff”.

There is not art on that. Just nice clothes and playback perfomance on MV and thats it! Kinda of easy way to get money from idol fans.

Well that has always happened. I think that’s okay. It’s very easy to pay for compositions with potentially good for a release and then ruin them in the hands of these (idol?) groups. I feel like it’s a waste of time, but it’s business… so :man_shrugging:
