hello! this is my first post on this forum. i hope to find the answers that im looking for here:) i was going through old photographs of my late great uncle who was in japan from 1992 till his passing in 1995. i stumbled upon this photo which piqued both my curiosity and my interest. it’s a music band performing in where i believe is okayama (since he studied and lived there!). the date is written on the bottom right of the picture. july 19th 1992. there seem to be 3-4 members onstage. my friend suggested that it could be a band called b’z. since they performed that same day. but not in okayama! he suggested me this forum since we both did not have much of a lead. i trust that you guys will find this band! all that i know is the location, which i strongly am sure of (not 100% but 95% maybe) and the date. godspeed!
hi, i can tell you it’s definitely not b’z, since on that date they performed in Yokohama Arena, which is a huge stadium. This seems to be a more local thing judging by the size of the stage and the people who don’t seem to be moving.
There’s a high possibility that this was a local or hobby band, doing a free gig at an open space somewhere - judging by the way people are standing - no rows + people watching off from the sidelines. (A mall or square in a park perhaps?)
i hope you find out what it is, but it’s going to be extremely difficult as 1992 was the height of Japan’s band boom and just about every young man wanted to start a rock band.
if you’re 100% sure that it was in Okayama - and I presume you know where your uncle lived during that time - you might be able to narrow it down by seeing if there are any local events in the area around July 19th, or the 3rd Sunday of July.
