So if I buy a meet and greet, I have to leave the venue again and then I’m last in line for… exactly the band I’m going?
See number 11
It’s not necessarily in the venue, I guess. There is at least one additional building next to the hall. Maybe it’s there.
Also how else should this be organized. People don’t want it to be while bands play and People complained about the festival starting late so the stsrt was moved closer to the meet&greets. And people would surely also complain if m&gs started earlier in the morning. I don’t see a better solution here.
Rush seating is definitely a thing. They may have wanted to encourage people who want flexibility to be able to go wherever they felt like.
If they had made it numbered, people would complain that they were assigned a seat and that they didn’t feel they had the freedom to go up close.
People who really want to be up close will queue early anyways. If they’ve got friends who will hold their space, they should be okay to do meet and greet. If not, I guess people should make friends in line?
Tbh I’m glad about it. I would prefer to decide depending on the band/mood to stand closer to the stage or sit for a little while. I also assume there always be a few free seats.
Aside from that I was very surprised to read that 13 year old teenagers are allowed to attend without an adult. That’s very young.
I’m also curious about the bus transport. According to Google maps, Porte de Bagnolet is pretty far away from the Arena. I never went anywhere where the bus shuttle had a longer route than around 10-15 minutes driving time.
As of now, I’m planning to search for a hotel as near as possible to the arena as I assume I will be pretty exhausted afterwards and just want to get to bed as fast as possible. But I don’t know about public transportation in that area yet or if there are any hotels that are in a walkable distance.
Yeah same. I also would like to sit in between and stand when I feel like it. Especially on the first day. Need to be careful with my feed so Ican stand 6 h the second day ![]()
I think the closest hotels are at the Airport but nothing seemed in walkable distance tbh. I already made a reservation a bit further away and I will use a ride hailing app but it’s cool that they made the effort to organize buses. Tbh they do much more than I would exspect in listening to complains and tyring to find solutions.
Just like how it’s usually done: You get to stay inside. Make the m&g/photo ticket an early entrance ticket at least.
This is going to be one hot mess. It doesn’t feel like they know what they’re doing at all. Once again.
They’ve been put into a position where they can’t do anything right, and no matter what they’ll do, someone’s going to write about it with the tone as if it should have been perfectly obvious for them to do it the other way. After the feedback made them drop how long the bands will be playing, I believe they’ve got the best of intentions and anything that seems off is due to something having to do with logistics, the venue etc. and that’s just the way it’s going to go down. I mean if they’ll bungle something then we’ll see when the date comes around, but I think most of the complains seem to be coming from people who haven’t been to an event in their lives or much less out of their houses.
Absolutely. People said they can’t trust other fans to keep their seat free for some minutes and wete concenred about crowd crushes when people go from seats to pit…. That’s just not how crowd crushes occure.
I read that quite a few times from different people and tbh, it sounds a little condescening and I don’t think this claim is constructive at all.
I think a bigger factor to the different opinions about pretty much anything regarding the organization, order of events, etc. is the comparatively mixed audience this event is attracting.
To take myself as an example: I’m 41 now and most concerts and festivals I go to are mainly gothic or metal events. These festivals or concerts are mostly relatively small. And there are not that many young people (especially in the goth scene, at least in germany) at these concerts and that has a big impact on the whole experience. There is no big rush to be as close to the stage as possible, for most people it is absolutely fine to stand wherever you can see at least something. Also you don’t see many people using there smartphones aside from the occasional photo during the concert. They are old enough to know what it is like to attend concerts without smartphones.
Also, adults in general seem to be on average more aware of their surroundings and be more careful not to bother other people (for example by pushing others, being too loud, etc).
And now, on the other hand, you have teenagers who experience mostly much bigger concerts where nearly everyone at the audience idolize the band members. They are used to being tightley cooped up with others, screaming, totally loosing it. They are also used to document everything, filming themselves at the concert, and so on - proving on Social Media that you were there because this is a big part of the whole experience.
So, all in all a very big difference to my own experiences. And these different experiences come with different expectations, concerns, etc.
The M&Gs start at 9 am. They cannot let people into the concert hall to stay at 9am, there are preparations to be done and having part of the audience underfoot for all of it would be insane. Also then people would try to get tickets for the earliest M&G, not because they want to meet the band but because they want to get in early.
Yes, you might have to lose your spot in the q for the M&G, that is just a choice people will have to make. You cannot always have everything, people will have to pick their priorities and that is normal and okay.
This is definitivly a thing and I know I am talking from an old people perspective:
It’s a terrible habit and I am glad they forbid photos and videos completely, so they have the opportunity to see that a concert can be enjoyable without holding there phones up. If they are Fans and want to idolise the artists they should listen to wishes of the artists. At least Kamijo does not want filming/photos and if they ever want to attend shows in Japan they need to be aware of this as well.
I know there are diffrent exspectations but the younger fans seems especially bad at managing them on top of that. It’sa bit frustrating and it surely is frustrating for the B7 as well.
I wholeheartedly agree. I am sure everything isn’t perfect and there will be some issues. Anything this big will have some problems, it is unavoidable. But it is frustrating to see all the comments from people who seem to think that since they turn up as paying customers, they should be taken care of in every aspect without the slightest inconvenience. They seem to expect people to literally fight for the seats if there are no pieces of paper to demonstrate their claim to a specific seat like most people do not manage to navigate regular society perfectly fine every day. And I am sure if the CAT1 tickets were separated to standing and (numbered) seated people would complain that no one can stand through the whole ordeal and it would be better to be able to come and go.
I am glad we got more play time for the bands and more time to pack everyone in before the start, these were unanimously good changes. But there is literally no way to arrange everything else in a way that everyone will be happy with. I don’t see anything particularly bad about the arrangements so far, we just prepare as well as we can and then adjust as it happens and try to have a blast.
Hearing someone describe the film policy as ‘draconian’ is extremely funny to me
The film policy is in the category of “Oh no! Anyways…” for me. They’ll have a very hard time enforcing it, especially from the stands.
Not a deal breaker at all.
I’ve never seen an event that has to drop an additional annex to each of the announcements that they make especially when the industry standard is “here’s the dates, the bands, the location –– be there”. They could’ve maybe published their plans as a PDF with the terms and conditions
Well, but if you have to pay for “early access” separately, it’s a rip off
Yeah it’s such a non-issue to me. I (and many here) have been going to concerts long before you had devices to even take photos on. Throwing a stink over it is a precious use my limited energy hahaha
