First Visual Kei festival in Paris will be held (10 bands, July 11-12)

Whatever the current situation is, it is obvious that there is some kind of problem(s) behind the scenes right now.

At this point I would not bet any money that there will be a voting this weekend for Fyre, um, B7Klan Festival.

I’m way less optimistic every passing day, and I’m going to dump a whole lot of negativity based on my experiences working behind the scenes at similarly sized festivals, (so don’t come at me with ā€œrelax you’re looking too deep into itā€œ or ā€œthis is normal for B7klan showsā€ so click at your own risk!)
I’m very skeptical because I know how much work this thing is - multiple flights and hotel bookings (which just got exponentially more complicated due to the airspace closure in the Middle East - granted, it’s the only thing where I don’t blame B7klan) and the coordination required between staff and bands’ management. I see no universe in which Mr Torpedo answers emails from band managers on time but can’t find 5 minutes to post a ā€œhey we’ll be late with our current announcementā€œ post on social media. Working on making a two-day, one-stage festival happen is almost a full-time job for one or two people, a few months of back and forth negotiations with people that are trusting you to not end up stranded in a foreign country.

This is all PURE speculation, so don’t quote me anywhere please, but the unseriousness with which Mr Torpedo is treating communications could have caused a few bands to withdraw and now he’s thinking how to proceed. I don’t care if this is normal for B7Klan, I’m speaking as a regular festival goer, this is the biggest shitshow I’ve ever seen and I’ve never seen a shitshow start even before I was at the venue.
My theory:

The back and forth regarding first the play times, then the VIP stuff has led to either multiple bands or one of the headliners to withdraw from the festival due to doubts about their professionalism.

Now they are trying to convince the band(s) to stay on board. Or thinking of ways how to otherwise rescue the festival and how to do damage control.
Due to this, they are so busy and panic-stricken that they don’t have the capacity to handle the whole fan vote thing right now because this is the least of their problems.

I think the problem is that they needed to have a firm bottom line from the beginning.

With every walk back and concession to the fanbase, it makes them look like they’re making it up as they go along.

With every change comes new challenges. They wanted longer setlists? Now they have to re-do the logistics.

How do we still fit in M&G? Well, we may have to keep that window of time shorter. How do we (collectively) still make our money? Let’s charge 50€ per hello and 100€ per cell phone photo.

Rabble Rabble Rabble

Whoops, guess it’s back to the drawing board.

Then with this much negative attention from the fanbase, bands being asked to apply for this contest are like ā€œummm, are we sure we want to win this thing? When we could be booking our summer schedules instead?ā€

This would be fucking cataclismic, I doubt anything like this is happening. Can’t be this bad.

But something severe going on is the only logic explanation I could think of for them going from being super communicative on social media to a month now of absolute silence.

Plus ignoring their own timeline of announced things.

Sadly I think is a matter of one of the big guys cancelling and then all would fall apart. I really hope it doesnt happen because that would kill the euro tours of ā€œbigā€ names for a while…

That or they just are this disorganiuzed and didn’t plan the fact that it’s annoying to create constant content once you have to get busy with the actual festival prep and are now knee deep in it

Cataclysmic already is the radio silence since 12 February and leaving us in the dark doing the only thing we can still do (wildly speculate). Assuming the contest situation is FUBAR, they could just own up to cancelling the eurovkeision and there’d be a shitstorm but not outright doubts about the festival still happening.

Yeah, the least they could do is let us know this. I didn’t bother paying for flights, but I’m sure a lot of people did.

You are probably very close to the truth.

Yeah I bought and paid for my flight already.

I have a hotel booked, bought and paid for the tickets for me and a friend as well. If worse comes to worst, really, I’ll just be out the flight money as long as I get refunded for the tickets. But the tickets were a fraction of the flight cost :sob:

I hadn’t bought my flight and honestly with each passing day they don’t even promote the festival my excitement fades. :wilted_flower:

Not me checking once per day if the event is still on the arena website and if it still would be technically possible to buy tickets :eyes:

I really hope for ANY kind of information soon.

Yep, I did, also Hotel reservation. I thought both (flights and hotel) could be hard to get later on and more expensive as it is on a weekend and in the middle of the summer.

I hope I am wrong, though

Commemorating 3 weeks of radio silence…

Tomorrow is kind of their last chance to have the list of eligible bands available for that preliminary voting round over the weekend.

The voting is supposed to start at midnight Japan time on 3/7, we’re already less than 24 hours out.
