I’m (probably) not attending the festival, but merely watching this from a distance makes me think: “man, what a bunch of amateurs”. I feel they have bitten WAY more than they can chew with this one. Sincerely hope it does not end in disaster.

No no, they’re celebrating 20 years of organizing japanese activities. Whatever this is, It isn’t lack of experience lol

People continuing to buy tickets for 20 years have shown them they can get away with it.

Would you rather pay their ticket price or a plane trip? If they are one of the few bringing the bands we like around here I think most people would gladly support them. But they should have learned something about events and PR at this point that prevents embarassing themselves like this.

Personally I’d 100% rather pay the plane ticket. This isn’t about money, it’s about going to shows where my favorite bands and the fans get the respect we deserve, that’s the bare minimum. And no amount of cost savings justifies the lack of respect

They haven’t learned, so that’s the difficult question is what next, now that they’ve shown after 20 years they have no intention of getting better even at the basics like posting accurate times and listing their weekend tickets for the right price.

Based on their disorganization, mistakes, and rudeness at Kamijo’s show in LA last year, and now everything with the festival, I won’t be giving them money in the future. Much rather save up for Japan and/or support the artists other ways. I really feel that B7 is stifling the overseas scene by making it synonymous with this kind of mess.

Soooo today we should get the full list of participating bands from hévn?

Nope lmao they pushed it again, they’re still sorting real applications from fake ones apparently.

"Dear torpedo-san,

My name is Yoshiki. You may know me as the creator of the Golden Globe theme or because of my famous wine brand, XY BY YOSHIKI, that colaborated with a special version of Hello Kitty modeled after my person, Yoshikitty. I was also the mastermind, soul and heart of legendary rock band X JAPAN, that you surely also know and that is releasing a new album very soon.

I would would like to apply for your Eurovision Festival with my latest band THE LAST ROCKSTARS that features many other iconic japanese rock icons but also mainly me on the drums.

The band was featured in the explosively popular Video Game software TEKKEN 8 so It is massively popular overseas and It will bring Eurovision to a whole new level.

Thank you for your time and best regards,

Yoshiki

PS: find attached a photo of myself with Bryan Cranston (of famed TV drama Breaking Bad) a great admirer of mine."

I mean who could tell if this was real or not???

Coming from he’vn magazine, I assume that we should take them at their word that this is the case.

This is kind of a wake up call for the entire community as to just how inexperienced a lot of these newer fans are.

Yes, B7Klan has been unprofessional regarding holding their bottom line and communicating with everyone, but their job hasn’t exactly been easy trying to please everyone in this fandom and explain everything step by step for those who have never been to a large venue festival before.

I don’t want to be mean, but

I feel this has less to do with VK fans or people never been to a festival than with age.

I know, older people are complaining about the youth since the beginning of time. But it does seem that adolescents need a lot more explanation in general comparing older generations. They seem to lack common sense and have more difficulties with thinking independently, logically and critically.

Obviously not everyone, though.

Yes, that is right. It just happens to be that the bulk of the newer fans are also a lot younger. shrugs

I really think that he planned this with older fans in mind. The ones that mostly got into VK via anime (hence why he was hoping to piggyback off of Japan Expo’s audience initially until he realized that most people wanted longer sets).

So he probably didn’t realize that he would need to make the fan engagement parts of this more “idiot proof” (oof, mean, I know).

Well, given B7 didn’t even consulted the bands regarding the advantages and prices before… (though they said the contrary… )
Bands were like “Eh ? We have to do a meet&greet?”
Some bands desperately try to contact B7 since then and didn’t even get a answer…

This is because they don’t read the contracts they sign or because… they didn’t sign a contract still? :zipper_mouth_face:

Do we know this? Because so far, as far as I’m aware, the only bands that actually reacted to the festival (except the ones in the line up posting about their participations) is that one who entered the fanvote and asked about it on Twitter. And as we established, Hévn are in charge of that part, not B7.
I’ve seen no other band talk about the M&G.

And if some actually did, except that one i’m mentioning above (I forgot their name), who was it?

As I said way earlier in the thread, there’s no way in hell bands aren’t aware M&G were a part of it. If anything, I’m guessing the delays comes from B7 having to ask each management if lowering the prices following the pushback from the fans is okay. And I’m guessing some bands aren’t happy with the idea lmao I don’t buy for one second the “we posted before the bands were aware of the prices”.

Yeah, the wording of that was ambiguous. Did they just mean “tickets went on sale without us finalizing the (new, lower) price with the bands”? Or did they mean “we didn’t officially confirm the (original, higher) price with the bands before we posted the list”?

At this point, just scrap M&G and let people in to buy merch during those hours before turning them back outside.

If a few of the smaller bands want to stand/sit at their table to offer quick hellos or offer one autograph per every 50€ spent, they can make their money that way. Also gives people 3 hours in between to go drop off/store their merch haul and have lunch.

Maybe this is a sign of my old age, but this over eventification of every little aspect of the festival is annoying and unnecessary to me. Just let the bands play and if they want to, have them sit at a meet and greet booth for free or a small early entry fee. If not, then not. Having multiple band reveals, voting phases, bonusses for purchases at a certain price, 5 different kinds of touching or photographing the band is just a bunch of fluff. To make extra money, I get it, but it’s not like the tickets were cheap and it’s obviously too much to handle for the organizers. I also don’t get this whole back and forth at every step. Make decisions and stick with them. If there’s backlash, adress it and don’t repeat the same mistake next time instead of fumbling around for ages to ‘correct’ it. I don’t want my hobby to feel like I work under an incompetent manager.

I’m talking about Azavana here. I had a talk with their manager and she told me that… she absolutely didn’t know for the meet&greet and can’t get in touch with B7…

That’s intresting.

This makes me wonder if this was the main reason for pulling the percs and their first statement that it was due to critic of prices from fans was the lie
