Is Gackt one of the most successful visual kei musicians of all time? I would sure like to think so. Acting credits, modeling credits, voice over credits, and music! Certainly the apex of what visual kei can be if you put your all into it.
I wish he had more hard rock tunes. Albums like Crescent would be so good if it was a smidge heavier, but I still love it!

Yeah, it’s hard to disagree. The dude is in the cover of Metal Gear Solid 2, you know. Also they put his likeness in Crisis Core. So many film roles too.

Not just his likeness. Gackt was active in the shaping of Genesis, who is pretty much Gackt as a FFVII character.

I stumbled upon a photo book from the yellow fried CHICKENz world tour and tbh I remember shit from the concert itselft but seeing the photo book with the members and gackt posing with a doll (or is that an actual person photoshopped to look like a doll?) in sex positions (fully clothed, tho)… I am not so surprised anymore by the sex talk MCs.

OMG I also rediscovered that one a few weeks ago. I just put it on Gackt being Gackt and put it back in the closet but now I wonder if the Yellow Fried Chikenz was especially bad for this type of stuff. Even accounting for Gackt it seems a bit extreme

Gackt is a businessman first and foremost. Not a world leader. So for me it’s easy to dismiss what he says regarding global affairs. Even if he said the opposite, I wouldn’t dwell on it
